Quote from: diva_uno on December 01, 2002, 05:07:58 AMOK...this is an addon..right? Where is the actual poll mod. I swear...I swear I've looked all through this board trying to find it. I've been sitting here for an hours searching.
 ???

Doesn't the poll come as part of the YaBB installation? Mine was there when I installed YaBB.
This is a function, if you have a website you can add an poll on your index and have a connection with your forum.

So what poll are they using here on the yabb board?
And are you talking about adding it into the index of your board or the index of your homepage?

What I meant was, the forum polls should be a part of the YaBB installation - So you can make polls in threads. The YaBB Poll program is an addon that allows you to have the YaBB polls on your home page.

Diva, what are you looking for? Are you talking about a mod that allows you to show the latest poll on your FORUM main page? If so i've never seen one, although I would guess one has been made.

No...I'm just looking for the poll in general. I don't have polls on my board. If it was part of the installation...somehow it passed over my board. :-\

What version of YaBB do you run? 1.3.0 and 1.4.0 both have the poll mod installed. You just have to go into your admin center, then click "Installed 'Mods' Settings and Options", then scroll down to the "Enable poll mod".

I still have the same problem as some other people have had... It works fine on the straight poll.php page, but when included on the main page it doesnt see me as logged in...

be sure your poll.php is in your yabbse dir.

put this in your main(site) php file.
$YaBB_Username_Cookie=$HTTP_COOKIE_VARS["YaBBSE140usernamev14"]; //YaBB username cookie
$YaBB_Password_Cookie=$HTTP_COOKIE_VARS["YaBBSE140passwordv14"]; //YaBB password cookie

when you call your poll or the function where you include the poll, call the function like this
functionname($YaBB_Username_Cookie,$YaBB_Password_Cookie)

this wil have as effect that you forward the cookie variables to the function.

i did this change and an number of other changes yesterday to my site, and the poll works now for 100%

hmmm... no difference, there any chance that you can copy and paste your include for the poll to see what i am doing wrong?

I am starting to think there is a problem with my forum because the cookies are there, just not read :-\

here it goes
my first three lines, of my main php file
<?
require("/srv/www/htdocs/yabbse/SSI.php");
global $YaBB_Username_Cookie, $YaBB_Password_Cookie;
$YaBB_Username_Cookie=$HTTP_COOKIE_VARS["YaBBSE140usernamev14"]; //YaBB username cookie
$YaBB_Password_Cookie=$HTTP_COOKIE_VARS["YaBBSE140passwordv14"]; //YaBB password cookie
print '<html>

now when i call, the function that displays the right site of my site. i do this
print '<td vAlign=top Align=right width=160>';
right_menu($YaBB_Username_Cookie, $YaBB_Password_Cookie);
print '</td></tr>';

i forward my variables to that functions, so that they are availble overthere.

my right_menu function
function right_menu($YaBB_Username_Cookie, $YaBB_Password_Cookie)
{
   print '<table width="160"><tr>';
   print '<td>';
   topTopicsViews();
   print '<p></p>';
   print '<table>';
   print '<tr><td class="black">';
   print '<font size="2"><div Align="center"><b>Latest Poll</b></div></font></td></tr><tr><td>';
   include("poll.php");
   print '</td></tr></table>';
   print '</td>';
   print '</tr></table>';
}

you see here i include poll.php

now i will show you the main change of poll.php
i did some other changes to, like returning back to the main site after posting and made the table rows of the poll even in size, if you want my poll.php i'll email it to you.

chang this
$YaBB_Username_Cookie=$HTTP_COOKIE_VARS["YaBBSE140usernamev14"]; //YaBB username cookie
   $YaBB_Password_Cookie=$HTTP_COOKIE_VARS["YaBBSE140passwordv14"]; //YaBB password cookie

to
if (!$YaBB_Username_Cookie && !$YaBB_Password_Cookie)
{
   $YaBB_Username_Cookie=$HTTP_COOKIE_VARS["YaBBSE140usernamev14"]; //YaBB username cookie
   $YaBB_Password_Cookie=$HTTP_COOKIE_VARS["YaBBSE140passwordv14"]; //YaBB password cookie
}

this will enable you to use poll.php, without including it and makes sure that you don't  overwrite te variables with nothing, what causes the problem in the first place.

i hope this works for you.

Where does this need to be put into? when input into poll.php it does nothing to help :-\
