I have to create the directory in my computer?  install.php and yse140.ya were already upload to my websever under directory yabbse.

http://sunshinerubycom.nexpoint.net/yabbse/install.php?step=zero

This program will install YaBB SE on your webserver

Install to directory: /yabbse

Overwrite newer files:  <-- I didn't check the box

when i hit "start installation", it said: Directory /yabbse does not exist yet, please create it first

I tried to create the directory in my computer, same thing happened in step 2

well, I get this error when i try to access your yabbse directory

Directory Listing Denied
This Virtual Directory does not allow contents to be listed.

I think that this may be the issue.

does everybody have rights to the directory?

I am having the same problem, where it says the directory doesn't exist yet.  I've tried every CHMOD combination.  My question is when it asks to input the name of the directory, what exactly do I enter? Do I enter "/yabbse/" or do I use the php tag <?=$installdir?> and replace "installdir" with "yabbse"?  Any have any ideas on how to fix this?

I suppose the directory
/yabbse
is wrong.
You have to enter the absolute pathname to you installation dir, that means for example:
/home/blabla/yabbse
on unix style systems or on windows style systems something like
c:/inetpub/wwwroot/blabla/yabbse

Yes, use the full path if you're having issues...

Set your boarddir in Settings.php to this:

/home/issanni/issanniracing.com/yabbse

Make sure Settings.php exists as well.

Ok, I made the change and i dont get any errors anymore.  however, now the page just doesn't load at all.  nothing happens.  after i enter in all my mysql info, and click proceed it seems to take a few minutes to load the next step, but it doesn't load, it just gives me the Page Cannot be Displayed error.  Is this a problem with my host or is Yabbse suppoes to take a few minutes to do the next step?

You are running win2000  - CHMOD will not work - you need to use the win2000 permissions thing in IIS manager (I think)

I don't think win2k is the problem.  This is according to my webhost:
"All servers run Slackware Linux and Debian GNU/Linux. "

I don't think it would make a difference, but my local computer is running XP not win2k.  So win2k isn't the problem.  Any ideas? I still get the same errors I posted before.  If this can't be fixed, I'm just not going to use Yabb, I'll spend the money for vButtetin, if I don't have to go through this hassle, it will be worth it.

Not all servers run Linux.  ::)

Pay the money for vB, if you can't figure out your path, you won't be able to configure vB either  ::)

Do you have your site live? Can it be reached from the web?

Yes, my site is live...

http://www.issanniracing.com/yabbse/install.php

the absolute path is /home/www/htdocs/issanniracing.com/yabbse/

The problem happens after step 3, where I enter in the information for the MySQL database, and yes, I had them setup the information.  When it tries to go to step 4, it just continues to load for about an hour before it gives me the "Page Cannot be displayed" error or the file handler errors I posted before.
