If I use a smilie from the smilie list and a regular smilie from the regular post page it won't display the original smilie.  It will display a small ( . ) period.  I have to choose atleast two original smilies.  It seems to disregard the first one.

The usual:

;D ;D ;D

Displays similar to:

.  ;D ;D

Thanks  :)

i am confused...

I dont have/cant find board mod..

1) To install with BoardMod SE, place Smilies.php in your sources directory, and smiliesdbmod.php in your main directory (with settings.php). Execute smiliesdbmod.php by going to it in your browser. This will create the necessary MySQL tables. Now, delete the file. Finally install Smilies.mod with BoardMod, and upload the modified files.
3) For BoardMod you will have to add smiley_up.gif and smiley_down.gif to your Images Directory.

so how can i do this...

Oks...
Go to http://www.boardmod.org/downloads.php and download the latest version of Boardmod. Install it.

First, make sure you have a copy of all of your forum files on your hard drive (in the correct folder path as well. i.e. all Source files are in Sources, ect)

Now upload Smilies.php to yourforum/Sources folder

Upload smiliesdbmod.php to yourforum folder

Open up a web browser and type in the url to smiliesdbmod.php i.e. http://www.totaltwaddle.co.uk/board/smiliesdbmod.php

Delete smiliesdbmod.php after successful execution.

Now, put Smilies.mod in your boardmod yabbse 1.5.1 folder (default install path is C:\Program Files\BoardMod\Mods\YaBB SE 1.5.1)

Open Board mod. On the top, it says Path to Script, click the little folder icon next to it and navigate to your forum folder on your hard drive. On the little pulldown menu called 'Objects of type:' change that to the pull down choice called 'index.php (for YaBB SE) (index.php)'

You should see index.php appear now if you're in the right folder. Select that and hit ok.

Back in the main board mod window, to the right of the folder icon you'll see a pulldown menu. Click that and select YaBB SE 1.5.1 (should be at the very bottom, I believe)

In the right window, you should now see the smilies mod listed (if you put the mod file in the right folder.)Click the check box and it should try to auto-install. If something fails, you're going to need to edit the files yourself. It does give you explicit instructions on what to search for and what to do next.

After editing all of the files, re-upload them to their appropriate locations. Test.

As you can see, modding can be a big thing. It's easy once you've gotten the hang of it, but it does require a bit of work. So please make sure that you're cautious and patient. Modding, once mastered, will give you a lot in the way of knowledge. You'll quickly understand how most things work and why they work. If you need any help, don't be afraid to ask. :D

Admin Panel => Installed 'Mods' Settings and Options => two options roughly halfway down called Height of Smiley Popup Window and Width of Smiley Popup Window. :D

So, you choose a smiley from the smiley window, and then one from the normal window (like the one above the reply box on this board) and it shows the smiley from the popup box as a period, or what?

I don't even know what your problem could be. The only thing that I can even come close to thinking it could be, is a small typo somewhere..

Oh, thank you for atleast replying!  :D

Yeah.  Sorry.  Just realized a mistake in my example.  I can use as many normal smilies as I want.  It's when I throw in a smilie window one that it doesn't work.

What should be:
;D

Would show up as:
.

After doing more than one normal smilie they start to show up.  Example

What should be:
;D ;D

Would show up as:
. ;D

It will display the image, but it looks like it's resized to 1x1 pixel and appears as a period.

I noticed that problem before but dunno what it was! Anyway, I'm sorry but I dont have the time to supprt this or any of my mods anymore!

Hopefully no problems like this will exist with SMF, as I'm going to be using a lot of the smilies mod code for the smilies in it. I will test it thourougly though ;)
