Hey guys! Hate to be a poster before reader, but there are 50 some pages and I am on a dialup! Anyway, my question is, how do you resort the smiles by name? Everytime I add a newie, it gets put at the bottom. Is this even possible? Thanks guys!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

I added this mod a while back! It was working great until now, I just noticed that the extra smilies are gone as an option in the reply screen. The mod still seems to be there because in the admin section all of the functions are still there. However, when I press the add more smilies link it takes me to my forum home page.

Any ideas?

If you're using the "read smiley dir" option they smilies are sorted by name (depending on the server).

If you're adding them by specifing the name, description etc, go to your mod settings and enable the option for smiley reordering. You can then arrange the smilies as you like

thedanzone, have you updated your yabb se version? If so you most likely overwrote the smilies code and now the mod isn't fully installed. If you did that, replace the files the smilies mod edits with 'clean' ones, which you can get on the download page (use the "safe mode" install). Then, reinstall the mod and upload the modified files. (Dont run smiliesdbmod.php again).

David, no it doesn't. Smilies are read from a directory. I'm not updating this mod again so you'll have to wait.

jeannedb, no just create a new folder called YaBB SE 1.5.4 or something like that. The problem is your forum is already modified (or boardmod cant pick up on your formatting - try replacing your files with files in the "safe mode" install from the downloads page... Phew!

I'm able to access the "Add More Smilies" section via the Admin center, and can even add more smilies in the database...
But for some reason, the ability to choose more smilies when creating a thread topic or replying to one doesn't exist.

Nor does the special features mentioned in the readme file, about being able to tell it to read the directory and list the smilies (or whatever).

I installed manually --- any ideas where I botched?

Have you gone into your mod settings? You can edit everything in there, If there is nothing about the smilies mod in your mod settings you obviously didn't edit ModSettings.php correctly.

BTW, instead of installing a mod manually, why not just edit the *.mod file so that it install correctly. That way, if you mess up you can uninstall and reinstall it easily with any changes you make

How do you edit the *.mod file? I'm a Mac user and therefore can't use BoardMod to install mods. If you know a trick to make it easier, I am nothing but ears, baby.

Oh, and there is stuff about the smilies settings in the mod settings, it says this:

Show vB Style Smiley Display?
Enable Smiley Block?
Enable Smiley Order Change?
Enable Smileydir Reading?
Height of Smiley Popup Window:
Width of Smiley Popup Window:

(And of course the checkboxes to go with it.) Everything's enabled.

It's really impossible for me to tell what you left out, as it could of been something really small but important. I thought there was a BoardMod for Mac users?

No, there isn't. I wish there was, but it isn't in the cards. (I've already asked Michael.)

yes, it's very easy to make a little mistake doing it manually. I recommend getting fresh files from the download page (a safe_ mode package) as you can simply upload and replace the files you edited with my mod to manually install it again.

smilies are just working in my modcentre and they are also looking good on the block.... but not in a message... How could that be??

did you upload subs.php ? Also give them test names to being with, like :laugh: just in case of a conflict

Are you reading smilies from a directory, or did you add them manually by typing in the names of the smilies? (Try messing with the modSettings page)
