I am having this same problem, and I too am using YaBB SE Version 1.5.3 what directory do I put the smilies.mod in  And where am I suppose to have Board Mod in

Okay, for people who get an error about template.php:
Rename template.html to template.php

ViperGeckoFreak, you're getting string not found errors because you must have mods installed or are using an uncompatable version of yabb with this mod. It's impossible to support all others mods I'm afraid.

EliteRides, never install manually. Errors can always occur.

This mod is still as cool as smilies 1.0 was!!

I installed it on the northwinds board which is a modded
and had no conflicts or problems.

Well the only thing I see is the way Message: & Smilies:
are located/mixed in post.php but that's nothing!

anyway cool mod!
And very happy it works with YaBBSE 1.5.3

I install the smilies and i haven't any errors, but i have a problem. When i click in "get more" open the window with the smilies and i can view the smilies, but when i publish the message, the smilie don't view... why?

if he can view the smilies in the popup window then the smiliesdbmod.php file has been run and he's added new smillies the base smillies will not show in the popup, if you post and a test user account someone or I would be more then willing to see. one question first did you upload and overwrite the post.php file? not the post.php file subs.php changes the ::smillie code:: to a smillie

I installed this mod and it is working, thanks Big P!

However, the pop-up window that displays when I click on [get more] has a black title bar with black text. How do I change the colors so I can read the text?

Is there any other mods that are similar to this one that might have a few less errors in it and is easier to install.  I love the concept, but there's not enough content on it for help,  and I kinda don't understand board mod.

Billythecrayon, "errors in mod" != "not understanding boardmod". It's easy to install, and there are no errors.

thedanzone, the colour of the tables is based on the colours set by your style tags. Open up your template.php file to edit the style.

EliteRides, yes I have a suggestion: If you're going to install manually, make sure you do it right You did it wrong. I can't help you with that.

Okay, I installed it, reinstalled it, uninstalled it, reinstalled it and did the whole thing over again.

The thing works, except there are two of them?? In the Admin settings I can see "Add more Smilies" and directly below it is "Add more Smilies". When you go to post, it brings up two blocks instead of one. I'm wondering if perhaps I've done something wrong? These have been good in the past but its just these last two new ones that have made the boards act all funky..

Yea, you did something wrong. In the admin.php page, you made two links, when there should be only ONE. Same with the window. If you did this manually, then I'd say you cut + pasted one too many times

I wish I knew how to help I can check and uncheck this all day and all 16 steps install and uninstall just fine!!

I have one suggestion go to your admin and click on "Detailed Version Check" under Miscellaneous

Yeah, it turns out it was doubled up. I didn't do it manually though  

And I'm figuring I have to go through Post.php to remove the doubled up smilies, only thing is what part do I remove??

Upload fresh files to replace the doubling that you did.

In other words download the Safe mode install of YSE 1.5.3 and upload all the files the mod edits. That way the mod will be uninstalled. Then, reinstall it ONCE! And don't run smiliesdbmod.php more than once either. If you did remove the SQL the smiliesdbmod.php makes (there's an option to remove the SQL built into it).
