I ended up doing the mod by hand.  It was a pain in the rear, but not nearly as frustrating as getting the continuous errors with BoardMod.  

Not sure if this is exactly why step 15 keeps throwing errors, but here's what I kinda think:

BoardMod is looking for this:
$text, $scripturl, $imagesdir,$txt;  (Note the lack of a space between $imagesdir and $txt)

the subs.php file is written like this:
$imagesdir, $txt; (there is a space between the 2)

Thats the nearest I can figure anyhow....now if I could just get the smilie box to work, I'd be thrilled!

Now BigP won't have so much hunting or brain-racking to do in order to fix the mod.    Well, at least I hope I was right and this helps him out...

Man, I know why the mod doesn't work for 1.5.1 final. That solution was posted several pages ago.

The reason I don't have the mod updated is because YaME sees extra spaces after each line. I'm just very busy, but, yet again, I'll try my best to get it done ASAP.

It seems rather obvious that some people either overlooked or missed the "solution" that was posted....I know I did.  Had I seen it, I wouldn't have struggled like I did with the mod.

Also, when you get a chance, could you please look into making it easier to reorder the smilies? I don't have time to go in and add 200+ smilies by hand, and I want them to be displayed in alphabetical order.

I know this has taken ages, but I'll give you people the mod now. It's attached, however, I have not tested it (for reasons I've already outlined above). So, if someone could test it out, let me know how they get on.  

Also, when you get a chance, could you please look into making it easier to reorder the smilies? I don't have time to go in and add 200+ smilies by hand, and I want them to be displayed in alphabetical order.

Oh man! I'm pretty sure when you use the readdir() function in PHP it reads the directory alphabetically. I'm pretty sure it was like that for me before. You could get someone else to add and reorder the smilies manually. There is a reorder feature after all. I'll look into this anyway.

Man, I was out at a party last night in a friends house and I got 1 hour sleep. I was still pretty out-of-my-bin so to speak when I posted above. Now I have a blocked nose, and one helluva nasty cough. I'm sure I coughed a lung earlier!

Works fine... I'm glad I figured out how to re-organize the smilies... Maybe I'll write a MySQL query to add all of them for me so I can have them in alphabetical order without having to add all of them manually...

So I'm setting up a virgin board for a client & decided to use it as a test board to install mods (on his time

anyway, fresh install of 1.5.1 final   I added global mod & posts per day with the pak center

then since I have no clue what I'm doing I decided to add the smilies mod - it's too cool not too!

the newest file works like a charm!  Now I have to figure out how to update my own board since it already has smilies installed but not with that nice feature of instantly reading the directory.  That makes life alot easier!

I actually had the mod working (sort of) on 1.5.1 final. Are there many changes between this new version and the old one?

I will compare the mods I suppose and check.

I just made certain parts xhtml complient that I had missed, as well as remove $modSettings from being globalised a second time on 2/3 steps. Plus I made step 15 work. Nothing major.
