I upgraded from the previous version to 1.5 just now after upgrading yabbse from 1.3 to 1.4.1...

installation worked like a charm and brought everything back to how it was...again, Great mod!

I didn't have to run the table query that the readme file said I needed to do...is that normal?

Err, then why does it work for everyone else? What version of the mod did you install (boardmod or yabbpak version)? Try installing the boardmod version for it to work for sure.

I had tried to install it under version 1.3 last summer but it wouldn't install.  I finally gave up and deleted it.

Would like to try the revision with the new 1.41 version of Yabb SE.

Does anyone know where I can find the smilies mod now?

I can see the "add more smilies" link in the admin center as is mentioned in the instructions.  seems i have to use that invisible "Smilies Center" mentioned in the docs .

Maemi, did you install the mod using the yabbpak? If you did make sure the 'Smilies.php' file is in your Sources folder. If not, upload the Smilies.php file from the zip. (I take it you never found the Smilies Center).

Using Boardmod is the easiest way to install this mod people.

Yes, Big P, I did upload it, it is there.  Since I deleted the old stuff there, when I re-uploaded I had to set the permissions again to 666 on it.  But still no "Smiley Center"

I used boardmod initially and it really screwed up.  
Since I had attempted to install smilies mod last summer on version 1.3, and it failed, i could never quit uninstall it right and ended up using the delete option in the yabbpak...which really didn't delete stuff that had failed to load right anyhow.  so i started out with a bit of a mess even tho I had upgraded to 1.41.  

Soooo...after fur flying and steam rising all night long, by the grace of Heaven, the offending files were deleted, fresh clean files were uploaded without losing my database at all >>still amazed at that fete<<...then I installed smilies mod via the yabbpak with no problem after i had attempted to upload the modified files from board mod and that didn't work and had to start over again.  doh.  >>glassy wild eyed icon required at this juncture<<  

i'm happy.    the smilies are in place.  but then, i'm easily entertained as my friends say. **snickers**

i kinda wonder if boardmod is not quit compliant with 1.41 version?

but....although the smilies show up nicely in the little popup window, and you click on them and something gets added to the message, it doesn't actually result in the smiley being added, just the smiley name.  I've tried exchanging the :smiley: with smiley back and forth but it doen't help.  dangit.  here i thot i had it all working too

BoardMod works fine with all versions of yabb, as does the boardmod file I have. I know what your problem is too. YaBBPak is known not to make any changes to Subs.php. So you'll have to do that manually.

Open up Smilies.php, go to the last two steps of the mod (It will have something like: <edit file>Sources/Subs.php</edit file>)
Manually make the two changes to your Subs.php file and reupload it. This has been well documented in this thread, so have a look a few pages back for other instructions. Good luck. (And use BoardMod next time!)

well, I tried boardmod first. Kept getting a couple of search string cannot be found errors.  
that's why I resorted to the Yabbpak.
and, I can't find for the life of me a message string in this topic relative to smilies.php or subs.php other than the message you just wrote.

and, I can't find <edit file>Sources/Subs.php</edit file>
in the smilies.mod i have either.  did i get the wrong version? SE 1.5 I thot was the latest one you'd written.

well, I've gone back to yabbpak and uninstalled all mods.  am gonna just sit on this until my head clears up.
i tried using boardmod again on the files after uninstalling all mods and still get the error codes.  doh

Really? Which ones? I can't remember what I wrote, this mod has been out for ages!  

Anyhow, do you have many mods installed? You could upload a clean install, then install the mod with Boardmod (So there will be no incompatability - Not that I know of any anyway). No need to update your SQL as the YaBBPak already did that.

Otherwise, I'd probably have to do it for you. If you can't get it done, ICQ/AIM/MSN me. I'll try and help ya out.
