after looking at the code you posted above, it doesn't make sense to me. I don't spell the word: SMILEY as SMILIE.
Uh, what version are you using? Smilies 1.5 SE? 1.3?

Anyway, ty uninstalling the mod and using boardmod. It's the best solution for you. As I don't know what mod version you're using (I don't mean yabbpak).

ok kool id like to uninstall the mod like u posted...but dont know how...how would i go about removin the mod? i dont even feel like fixin it because i want to use ur smiley mod. so how would i go about removin this mod from my forum so i can get into my administration it doesnt even let me get in to anything in my forum because of that error message.

Use the uninstall feature in your yabbpak center. Then follow the boardmod instructions.

Hello all.
I installed it using yappak center, it was smooth sailing, no errors found, no files skipped, and all necessery files modified according to the install sript, I can see the link in my admin center for "add more smilies" but when I click it I get this

Fatal error: Call to undefined function: smilies() in /path to/my/yabbse/index.php on line 282

I havn't a clue on what that might be, can anyone help please.
Also I do not see any links on the board for "more smilies", you know, when posting or replying.

Everything went smooth with the install but I don't see the 'add more smiley' link in admin anywhere.

Go and have a look at the Name of the file (with your FTP program) and make sure you don't have two "Admin.php" files, One with lower case "a" and the other with up"A".
If so rename the one with the upper case to "Admin.php~"
Then rename the lowercase one with a capitol "A".

If this does not work, not being the mod writer I can only suggest that you uninstall it.

Then download the zipped version and use the Boardmod program to install.

If done correctly, the "Add More Smileys" link will be the first link in the "Forum Configuration" section. Just before the "Edit your Forum Template" link. It worked for me, so I think that maybe the packages thing skips a step? Only thing I can think of. :-/

I just restarted it all from scratch and now I've got the link in Admin -

Now,when I click on it, I get a 404 error
And when posting, the "show all smiles" link also 404 errors (or in my case, 404's redirect to main page).  

I'm about 2/3 through the thread, If I find the solution, I'll remove this post.

Wait a minute. You removed it, or uninstalled it? There's a big difference. Uninstall the mod and use the boardmod version, you had so many weird errors I don't know where to start. Boardmod is your best bet.

This could be the stupidest question ever and I am very sorry for whoever is sympathetic enough to take me under their wing & help me out here, LOL. But I have a very novice question.

As far as I know, the mod uploaded fine. I have no troubles in my admin center (I uploaded using YabbPak) and in my Post New Topic, Post Reply, etc etc, as far as I know, everything works perfect. But here comes the stupid question.

How do I go about giving my smilies codes? When I give one the code :cry: for instance, it posts into my message fine, but when I post the message and check it, it shows up as :cry: and not as the actual smilie. I haven't touched any PHP for fear of screwing up (hehe) so if someone could just point me in the right direction, that would be beautiful. I'd say I'm decently familiar with the PHP of my board but this is the first mod I've ever added, so!

Help and such is very appreciated, I know you guys have much smarter people to help out, LOL.

I don't know if you need to run it with the yabbpack version or not, but there should be something like: smileymoddb.php , or something that says dbmod.php. Upload that to your main directory (mine is http://www.ufba.org/forum/) and execute it from your web browser. Should work fine

It just seems like such a silly little thing, lol, I can't understand why it isn't working. Everything else works brilliantly, not a single flaw as far as I can see, but this.  It seems like it should be so easy to fix!

I tried executing that file, and it said all modifcations were successfully made, but there's no difference

Firstly, have you added the smiles, from the admin screen. From the link which says "Add more Smiles" ?

Second, When you do add smilie code I suggest you use Eg:   cry~)
This way any word you use in the text of a post will not be confused with a smilie code.

The post from "1979z28" just before mine. I pretty sure is incorrect.
When you use the YaBBpack to install I'm pretty sure it takes care of the whole thing in one simply process if all goes well.  You may recall the process he is talking about because it runs a test first before actually doing the various process's.
