Well to check if it's installed; go to your index.php file like so: index.php?action=smilies
Try that; I take it you used the yabbpak?

QuoteAnybody?

Can't add more than 5 smilies still an issue...

Good to see you figured it out as I hadn't a clue!

I looked through all the code trying to see where it was choking.  I've been pounding my head on the problem.  All the while its an index problem, not a code problem.  I now have 29 smilies, and I'm debating adding more.

I hate to say it, but in my opinion the installation of this mod has too many inherent problems and, the YaBBPak at least, needs to be reviewed so that it actually mods the files it intends to. I have successfully installed 'add more smilies' mods on previous version of YaBB, but I have tried over and over again with this, following the various instructions and hacks available. Don't get me wrong, we appreciate the effort gone into the mod, but I have lost all patience and people shouldn't have to hack source files for it to install because the YaBBPak doesn't work all the time. :( And please don't tell me to use BoardMod...that's almost MS-esque. ;)

Like I've said in the past; the problems with YaBBPak itself, not my mod. I can't help a problem on yabb's side. The mod installs for some people, and does some of what it should with others.
I'm sorry but boardmod is your only choice until the yabb pak 1.4.1 is out; which the next version should work with... i hope!

i have 50 extra smilies.. do i need to re-add these!?! there's no direct upgrade from the ones i have installed in yabbse 1.3.0........ so this means i have to sit there and write down code for each and every single one of them. niiiiiiiiiiiice! :)

does 1.4.1 work with this smilies 1.5?

i'm not even gonna upgrade until i know it works. :)

yes Smilies 1.5 works with se 1.4.1, and so will the new version Smilies SE 1.6 (1.4.0/1.4.1), so there shouldn't be any problems.
I have 1.6 almost ready to go; but there is one problem I need to fix. The new version requires a smiley folder, all your smilies will be placed like: YaBBImages/Smilies
The problem is I can't get the variable to work when you include news on your homepage. It's a bit odd!  :-\

I went ahead and put the smiles mod up on my board.

I did it the easiest way for me, which is to open the .mod file in a notepad / wordpad file, and manually change everything.

All has worked, I haven't received any error messages from anything, but when I go to add a smiley in my admin section, or edit added smileys, there's a javascript error. I go through, and try to add a smiley, and push the 'submit changes' button. It then goes to the same page, like I'm guessing it's supposed to, but it hasn't done anything.

Using IE 6.0, I check out what the javascript error is, and it says the following:

Line 156
Char: 17
Error: Syntax Error
Code:0
URL: http://www.ufba.org/forum/index.php?board=;action=smilies

Any ideas?

So far, that's the only problem, and I'm fairly certain that I followed the instructions in the readme file, and did all the coding correctly, not forgetting anything, but I could be wrong. In a little bit, if there hasn't been a reply to this topic in a couple hours, I'll go and try try everything, making 100% sure that I follow the instructions to the letter.

There are a number of ways I could find out exactly what's wrong, but that would require access to your server. I would assume the problem is on your behalf, and all the javascript works fine in this script.
Try installing it with boardmod (clean files) and see what happens.  ;)

Ok, I went through and redid all of the coding, and now there's not a javascript error. However, it still doesn't work. :-/

Using smilies.mod, I opened it up into wordpad, and went through and manually edited each of the files detailed inside, and I edited them as it said to. I then went through and ran smiliesdbmod.php, and did the rest that the readme.html file said to do, except run the boardmod program. However, since I went through and manually edited the files, I shouldn't need to run boardmod, right? ;)

Anyways, the javascript error is gone, and trying to add smilies does the same thing it used to, and that's go back to the admin add smilies page, without actually adding anything..

Should I HAVE to run the boardmod program? I'd have used it before, but both times I was too stupid to figure it out. :p

Also, if you had to tell somebody how to do this, which you do ;), how would they go about adding the smiley?

Go into Add Smilies in the Admin section, and once there, do XXXxx....
The smiley I've been using for test purposes, is:

What would I type in each of the boxes for that?

If this doesn't end up working, I'll make my co-webmaster help me figure out exactly how to run the boardmod program, and try it out from there ;) ;D
