uh... this might piss you off, but I dunno what I'm doing.  I installed it with YaBBpak, but it would only show the code and not the gif.  Then I tried installing it with Boardmod and I got errors 9 and 11.  Yes I know this has already been answered, but I don't understand what I'm supposed to be editing.

It's most likely this:
You didn't uninstall the yabbpak mod after you installed it - Simple fix, download you Subs.php file and add the last 2 steps manually. Make sure after you uninstall the yabbpak you redownload your source files that Smilies SE had written to.

I helped this brother fix his board by simply letting him upload my MODSETTINGS.PHP, POST.PHP, ADMIN.PHP, AND SUBS.PHP to his Sources Dir. and then my INDEX and ENGLISH files also.  Had him erase the sql database for the smilies and had him let smiliedbmod.php create a brand new one.    All works like a charm.....just another route to go if all other fail.

okay, I take it the problem was as I stated.

Anyhow; I've been working ages on Smilies 1.6 (which will be compatible with 1.4.0 and 1.4.1).
The updates are as follows:
-> Queries cut to minimum / code cleaned/ code documented - big code improvement
-> Improved speed with removel of excess IF statements. (There were loads!)
-> New "Read Directory" feature. You no longer need to add smilies individually, you can read a folder and let Smilies SE auto add a description and code! (this will work on all 3 ways of viewing your smilies, currently I have it working for normal view and the Smiley Block with only 1/2 bugs that need sorting)

As far as code being cleaned, I've had to rewrite several different actions and by doing so I've greatly improved speed.

Now, I'd like to know if anyone can help beta test this? It's coming along nicely and I should have a beta version ready in a few days. (It's because the code has changed so much that it will need to be tested again).
Also there will be a working pacman (hopefully) but this will probably only work with 1.4.1, and not the current pacman.

i'm upgrading from yabb SE 1.3.1 to 1.4 will i have to completely reinstall this smilies mod.. do i have to uninstall it before i upgrade yabb?  do i have to uninstall it before i install the one for 1.4?

I modified the board using boardmod and boardmod went smoothly after i read the posts here about how the yabbpak are not the way to go.

However when i go to the admin center, I click on submit to add the smilie and i get nothin! I've tried this multiply.
Then i go to post and it show that none have been added... any ideas what's going on? My forum folk are hugely addicted to the smiley and right now they're lying on the forum floors shaking... It's not pretty

You have this mod installed for yabb se 1.3.1? Well, firstly uninstall the mod. Then upgrade your files/db etc.
Then reinstall this mod with boardmod, and follow the upgrading steps. - I'd advise you to wait until Smilies 1.6 is out. It'll take a bit longer than I wanted because no one wants to beta test it; so it'll be out when I'm ready. However you'll have to have a version of Smilies 1.3 at least to upgrade. The previous versions; 1.2 and 1.0 are not supported. Okay?

Is this your first time installing the mod? If so I take it you ran smiliesdbmod.php and uploaded Smilies.php as shown? Are you using version 1.5 of smilies? and 1.4.0 of YaBB SE?
The problem you have sounds as if you have an old Smilies Table installed in your db. But it might not be that. Have you installed this mod before?

well i tried installing it first with yabbpak but that didn't work at all.
Then i did the boardmod schitck and it said it modified the files properly... Though i thought i'd be safe with the db installed by the yabbpak... When i ran the smiliedbthingy.php it grumbled that the table already existed (which i reckoned cool) and that the table was modified correctly.

But yes, installed 1.4.0 SE and 1.5 version of the MOD; i just installed everything last night

Where is this phpadmin deal? maybe that'll clear it up
actually if i find it i'll just erase the table and rerun that thingy

Heh someone kindly explain to me how to use phpmyadmin to erase the smilies DB ... i'm just a schmo trying to put up forum with smilies

lol. For starters not all sites have phpmyadmin, so in smilies se 1.6 I have rewritten the smiliesdbmod.php file, so you can now upgrade with it; there will be no need to used phpmyadmin.
You can download phpmyadmin at www.phpmyadmin.net, and install it on your server. Most servers do come with it installed; you can try you control panel if you bought your webspace, it's mostlikely there. Then you can remove the tables. What problem did you have with the pacman exactly? I really can't help you with your forum; without checking out the files and such.
BTW, when you ran the smiliesdbmod.php you made extra inputs; so when you do get phpmyadmin I advise you to remove the doubles in your yabbse_settings table. Names like hdetach and wdetach will be there twice. If you want me to check out your files send me your ftp info by IM.

Thanks for the offer but last night, i searched for phpmyadmin, configured and installed it myself, and dropped the two tables and reran dbmod.php and it worked without a hitch thanks man for the great mod and that hella cool side picture with menu thing. The kids are diggin' it!

lol. which? The vbstyle smilies? or the smiley block? It's all optional in your mod settings menu. Turn off both the smiley block and vb style smilies for the normal way of viewng them.

Could someone please help me install this? i tried the ybpakk and that didnt work (recieved and error saying i needed to add a file) and i tried the boardmod version but got to the last step and realized i had no clue what board mod is...lol...please, someone help me!

I really hope this hasn't been answered... but skimming through 20 pages, I may have missed it.  How do I use board mod to install it?  I can't use YaBBPacks because it is disabled on my server, and I can't seem to work the board mod.  I read the readme file for board mod but it said that I needed to get an offline version of my site and find the yabb.pl file... i can't find it, can anyone help me?
