The reason I know this mod works in private messages is because all post info is read from post.php. You reply to threads and start new ones just like sending a PM. I did have to move the javascript for them to work in PM's though. I dont know why it doesn't work for you. Have you tried turning on the vbsmilies hack? The option is in the mod settings panel. Does that work for you in PM's?

Phew! Smilies SE 1.5 is finally done, and it includes a YaBBPak mod aswell!   Plus it works!!

So people, let me know how you get on! This mod took a lot of beta testing!

I have installed it using the yabb pack method and everythign went ok but i can't see anything to setup the smiles on the admin screen.  Its says the mod is installed and i checked it created a database table but i am unable to see any settings.  Any ideas.

I have managed to install the mod using the yabb pack with a bit of hacking.  It looked like the two files
modification.mod
modification.php
were not extracting properly to the Packages directory
I opened the smilies.mod.yp and manually created the two files and uploaded them then preformed the mod using the admin menu and it then all worked ok.

Not sure if if was my setup or not.

That's odd, the mod really should install. Does for me. Anyone else have that problem?

Anyone iterested in giving me a hand with this. I have intalled mod both manually and auto before but I can't seem to make this one work.

For starters... I get parse errors before I even get to the pacman stuff but from what I have been told by the mucky mucks (term of endearment) I should not use that anyway as it is highly ....;ummm not working.

So.. could someone explain a little furhter the process for intalling manually, It would seem I'm not smart enough to follow the readme.html file for 1.5

I wouldn't reccommend for anyone to install by hand.
Get a copy of boardmod and follow it from there Far easier.
You should be able to take apart smilies.mod and install it by hand anyway, its all very easy to uderstand and readme.htm should take you from there.
This version of the PackMan works fine, just took a good bit of work is all!

When i click on the "Add more Smilies" link in the Admin Center the page loaded but with errors ( In the status bar IE 6.0 give me the message Done, but with errors on page ) and when i put an image name is not seems to work the automatically smiley code and description

um, what version are you using? Boardmod, or yabbpak?

Whats the error, cannot connect to mysql database? Or cannot open Smilies.php? Or is it a parce error. You need to tell me the exact error you get so I understand how to fix it

I tell it before.
The IE 6.0 tell in the status bar that the page is loading but with errors on page.
I see the page but when i put an image name is not seems to work the automatically smiley code and description.
I run the db mod and i upload all the files correct.

I install the yabbpak version of this mod and everything appeared to install ok. I could add new smiles and everything. However, when I try to post using the new smileys it doesn't change the smiley shorthand into the actual smiley ... the text stays in the post.

eg I have a smiley called "blah.gif". I set it up in the smiley admin section that :blah: is blah.gif but when posted it is still has :blah: in text ... it isn't converted to the smiley.

Any ideas what the problem would be? I unistalled the mod and reinstalled it ... the same thing keeps on happening.
