I have a forum in sp 1.1 & I'd like to convert it to yabbse, I've downloaded se 1.3.0 & the converter from 1.1..

..now my problem...the site that I had the other board on went belly up, but I do have a rescent backup in my files..

I didnt realise until after I signed with the new host that they didnt allow yabb cgi.....

what I need to know is: do both boards have to be on the web together, or on my pc together, or doesnt that matter?

Also, which board should the converter be in?

..& should I make backups of my backups?

Upload all your yabb version sp1.1 into your host. This need not be live running. Install yabbse in a different directory. After installing, convert the sp1.1 to yabbse by running a convertion file which can be found on yabbse v1.1. The convertion file will only convert message directory and members directory from your old sp1.1 board.

Thank you queks!...its good to know theres someone out there ;)

..decided to just dive in & got it converted last night!

I read another thread that suggested creating a yabb folder inside the yabbse directory & copying the files, (Boards, Messages etc) into it & ran the converter from there...worked like a charm ;D

for those who dont know: run the converter the same way you run the installer..(www.yourbb.com/httpdocs/yabbse/converter.php)

hope that helps!
