hi,
This is a minor problem compared to others, so feel free to ignore it for a while...  :D

I've just upgraded from YaBB SE 1.0 to SE 1.3
http://www.dbdukclan.co.uk/forums/

In the template I've always used simple Javascript MouseOn and MouseOff events for things like a google search box to wipe it when a user clicks on it.  Simply done using lines such as:
"document.GoogleSearch.q.value = wateverhere"

It all worked fine in 1.0, and was a popular addition to the top menu.  However, any Javascript I was using in the template.html refuses to work in 1.3

It produces wierd errors on the MouseOn MouseOff events, usually saying there's something wrong with "Line 0, object expected".  I know vaguely what this means, and the thing is that the object names haven't changed at all.

Please Devs, has something been changed in 1.3 that means you can nolonger use custom Javascript in the template.html?  ???  Has the 'document' object reference been changed somehow?

I'd really appreciate any insight on this, it's just a bit of a pain and I'm not the world's best at Java  ;)

The YaBB board is amazing anyway, great work!
Thanks v. much,

ok, np, thanks for such a quick response!

A very strange anomaly, I'll have to look through the sources in detail.

as an afterthought - take a look at the msn code.  perhaps that's messing with it?

yeah, after searching through all the files for the word 'Javascript' I compared and concluded the only thing that had changed was the MSN code... so I studied it for a while.

However, I don't know enough about how Java works on the base level to spot conflicts etc.  All I know about is to watch out for variable, function and 'onload' conflicts.  Can't see anything myself.
hmmmmmm, back to the books me things :)

Any passers-by experts in Java by any chance ? ? ?  ;D

Thanks for thinkin about it anyway, its much appreciated.

hmmmmmm, this is gonna get annoying.

I've been experimenting.

As I've just built the menu for the website using PHP/Java, and I want to use it on the forums, if it doesn't start working, this could be a right pain.

It seems that any Javascript which is placed in the template.html is just basically ignored ? ? ?

It may be the MSN mod.  What does it do?  I've added the MSN tag in the header of the template, but I didn't notice any change.

I'm stuck, any ideas?
As a last resort, who wrote any Javascript that was added?
Thanks again,
