From the info presented on the download page (
http://www.yabb.info/download.php):
QuoteTo install and run YaBB SE successfully you server needs to meet or exceed these requirements
- PHP 4 or better
- mySQL 3.22 or better
- 5Mb of webspace for a medium size board (Including database and 1.3Mb of files)
From Alex Rolko's 'Quick & Easy Installation Intructions for 1.0.0' (
http://www.yabb.info/community/index.php?board=135;action=display;threadid=3792):
QuoteFor the least amount of complications, these are the recommended versions of PHP and mySQL to use. (Newer versions are always better of course)
----------------------------
PHP 4.0.5 - Unix Platforms
PHP 4.1.x - Win32 Platforms
mySQL 3.22.x - Unix Platforms
mySQL 3.23.x - Win32 Platforms
As far as I can see (having searched and searched!), the recommendation for PHP 4.0.5 comes solely from Alex's instructions, but surely it should be included on the download page if it's that important?
The reason I ask is that I'm looking at an otherwise perfect host who's offering PHP 4.0.4. Alex's instructions seem to imply that it might be possible to use this if I'm prepared to deal with some 'complications', but I can't for the life of me find out what these are! I'd be very grateful if someone on the development team could answer this question, but I'm posting it to 'Feedback' rather than anywhere else to make a friendly point that the info on the download page could be clarified.
Thanks
P
