I think the "Featured Sites" should be good sites, not just random crap.

I don't think this topic should be here.  But anyway, the featured sites list to the right, shows sites which have registered their YaBB SE Boards with us.  It shows random so it isn't showing the same 5 boards, and it gives YaBB SE users a taste of what others are doing with their YaBB SE Installations.  As it is randomised from the Register, there is no real way to tell what are good and what you would call "random crap".  As we have users from all over the world visit this site, some of the sites which appear in the list maybe in another language, to accomodate for those users too.  I don't think any YaBB SE board is crap, as YaBB SE is a work of art, and people such as the ones in this community add to the art.

Besides- what one may consider crap another may consider great- It isnt just the layout of a board, but the content- Someone may be able to find a board they are intrested in the forums they have

The featured sites used to be selected by a complex formula but it also left the same 5 sites up there constantly.

So your system sucks ass, use the safe mode package and upload the files as you want.  The forum was not recoded so it builds upon the mess that was already existant.

Don't like it then don't use it, or use one of the many other choices out there.

I love yabbSE as much as the next guy. Perhaps the idea I should have suggested was to rename "Featured Sites" to "Random Sites".

My point was brought out by sydney078. I think it would be useful to have a listing of sites that are worth visiting. Often the "Featured Sites" have no posts on the boards and are just the default install of YaBB SE. I agree, a plain install with lots of activity is worth being featured, a custom install with lots of features but few posts is worth seeing etc.

Easiest solution would be to change the word "Featured" I guess.

Could have an "admin can post only" board where Zeff and the rest of the gang can post sites that interested them....

    I have even seen my fourm there one time,  I feel my forum  looks great      but I dont think it will give much to random visitor,  because most of it is based on members.....   but its nice to look at

I partially agree with him in the respect that some of those sites don't exist at all. You should check to see if the URL's are correct and legitimate. It really bugs me to see a featured site with the URL
