it is then followed by my boards URL well almost there is a ~ missing from it, but I checked the board URL in settings and it was right any ideas how to correct it so I can download mattes stuff?

It means your host doesn't allow external connections (probably running safe mode?) and so you can't download packages this way

If that was the case, how come I can still download from the ones that come with the board just not any I add to it, like matte's

but I just downloaded the buttons package from your server and installed and now I get this error when going into package manager any ideas why?

I cured the board problem by reverting back to the #'d copy of package.php incase anyone else has it.
