Long movies are always better than short. Simply there more time to tell the STORY in!

you should read the books.

I loved the movie and so did my girlfriend who probably wouldn't read past the first couple of chapters :)

That's great!! I can't wait to download this for my boards :) as for suggestions, maybe you could add a couple more creatures besides the Cave Troll, if you can find pictures, like an Orc, an Urhak-Kai, or even a Balrog.  ;D Oh and maybe the Lady of Lothlorien, Galadriel.

When the next movie comes out, of course, you should have an easier time finding a picture of Gollum, and an Ent, and so on. :)

imho the movie was crap!
It was long, but this is not necessarily bad. In this case it was a waste of time.
The charakters, i.E. Legolas, Aragorn were hardly drawn at all.
Music was bad. Gladadriel was obviously on drugs (most likely filled up with H). The scenes were badly pieced together often with no contiguity. (i.E. all of a sudden the fellowship is on a small and stormy mountain path, an avalanche comes down, they decide to turn back and take the way through the dwarf mine, next scene they are in front of the dwarf mine. Inbetween probably there was a march of several days but the whole mountain path scene until dwarf mine took only two minutes)
But most of all I was disappointed by Frodo. I wanted to scream in agony each time he was looking so pathetically. Like a asskicked dog.
Maybe I lack some romantic feelings, but the pathos in this movie was not bearable for me.

I was in cinema with a bunch of good friends and I seemed to be the only one who didn't like it. In the meanwhile everyone I know has seen the movie. And guess what, ... they all love the movie!

Strange ... I think I have to work on my perception.

P.S.: Good bye Karma ;)

Interesting take on it.  Not everyone will love it!

But some of the things you mention (the long journey is two minutes).  If they ever decide to make a movie which uses real time travel (like you watch their entire journey to the mine) we'll all be in trouble.

The books are long and a lot has to be packed in.  Therefore, you will lose some scenes and some detail.

I have to agree with Frodo though.  Always looked like a dog who is spanked to much and the owners hand is in the air again...I just don't like the actor they picked :)
