Whoohoo...I went for it and all seems good!  When it finished it said go to your boards and link me to the my old URL plus and index.php at the end?  Do I still continue to use the old URL path?  I'm a little confused?

phew! glad it worked for you.

I installed a few yabbSE boards and I know I got that mesasge once too. but no you would use the new url to where your new install went I would think.

you had another index.php? or was that from a previous attempt at converting? if so it may have picked up on where your first install attempt took place.

Well I tried my best but I was not successfull at converting the boards over to SE.  All seem to go well until I went to the new board URL under the yabbse folder it came up fine until I tried to login and then I got an error.  What could be the problem?

well I know your waiting for joseph to help out.
but I can give some food for thought at least.

what does the error say?

and when you were doing all this installing did it create an install to another location? and then you changed the location for the new install?

and did you use the same data base? with the same prefex_ ?

as this may have caused some conflict. I'm guessing you have access to your data base via MyphpAdmin?

the only other conflict I have come across is when I installed 2 boards on the same data base with different prefex which works well except if your logged in at both boards and go from one to the other it comes up with a error to log in.

OK I explain the steps I took as best as possible.  I ran the install.php It asked for a bunch of information which I gave it and then It asked if I wished to to proceed with install or convert a YaBB gold database I chose the convert YaBB gold database it then asked me for all the information I gave it about mySQL and stuff and then I proceeded to the next page which asked for my old URL paths to the database and Image files, did that.  Then it started the conversion, all went fine with no errors.  Near the end it asked if I would like to keep my old settings and the first time I said yes the second time I attempted I said no.  so that was fine, at the very end it said congratulations the conversion is complete go here to see your boards.  The link was to my old boards plus index.php.  This didn't make sense  So i typed in the new URL http://www.performance-shop.com/yabbse where I figured the new version would be and it appears to be fine until I log in or attempt to view a board.  So where did I go wrong?

ok I just had a look at your board.

you mean this error when you click on a forum?

An Error Has Occured!

You are not allowed to access this section

hmmmm....

Did you use the same admin username and password you had with the old board?

as far as that error is concerned, I'm wondering if you had your old board in maintaince mode when you converted? although I am not sure what this woul'd cause the board to do in an conversion.

so I am thinking you have installed twice on the same data base? if this is the case thats why I asked you if you had accsess to your data base to see how many tables there are in there.

Yes I had my old boards in Maintenance Mode when I did the conversion and yes I used the same username and password for the admin account.  I left the last forum entry blank the one that asked for a prefix or something like that.  It said I could.  Was this the one thing I should have done differently?  I turned off the maintenance mode for now before my members start freaking out.  My old boards are still working fine.  If the conversion worked correctly would my old boards be gone as in written onver by the new boards or are they installed in the new directory under the yabbse folder?

it's kind of wierd as the new board appears to be attempting to access the old board.

perhaps the blank prefix is the problem.

argh! i have to reboot my computor. brb
