YaBB SE Version: 1.5.2 to 1.5.4
PHP Version: 4.1.1
MySQL Version: 3.23.x
Server Platform: Windows 2000, XP, or 2003
Link to Forum: www.muppee.com/yabbse/index.php

Problem Description:
ok so i know this is not exaclt yabbse realed, but it is effecting my yabbse, and i'm about to cry, I need help so bad.
I have had this up and running for about a year now.  Everything was great until I decided to add a second database to my mysql server.  I was able to create the database, but when i went to create tables I kept getting access denied.  So stoopid me decides to reset the root password.  Well in doing that now I am locked out of everything.  The yabbse board gets an access denied message.  I can't see any of the tables in the mysqladmin.  I have tried no password, and the orginally password, and still nothing.  Plus I can't log back in the mysql to try and change the password again.  So the smart me would be like "no problem i can resotre the back up".  But of course i don't have a back up.  So did i loose everything?  Is the only solution to reinstall mysql?  :'(  :'(  :'(  :'(  :'(  :'(  :'(

I would recommed going into the mysql directory then into the data directory.

Copy all of the directories in the data folder except for the mysql one and paste them somewhere else as a backup. Then I recommend you uninstall mysql, and then reinstall it. Then after you do so just paste those backuped folders back in the data folder and everything should be back to normal.

Remember after doing so your username and password will be root with a blank password. I recommend you change it as soon as you get it reinstalled.

That would be a problem with php.ini having the wrong setting in it for the session save path.

Just change it from "/tmp" to a temporary directory that you create.

Hey...
I did that, but I'm still getting the error message.  I read the post from [unknown] about how he thought it was a php bug, so i upgraded to version 4.3.3.  But that didn't help.  Any other suggestions

It kind of is a php bug in many people's opinion, but it was never fixed. And that bug only affects windows servers... most linux servers don't have that bug.

In php.ini you have to change "/tmp" to a directory that actually exists and is readable/writable.

For instance on my computer I use this:
"C:/Apache/php/tmp" as the temp directory for sessions. Just do something similar and make sure the directories exists and can be written to.
