YaBB SE Version: 1.5.5
PHP Version: 4.3.0 to 4.3.3
MySQL Version: 4.0.x
Server Platform: Unix, Linux, or BSD
Link to Forum: http://www.blue-crab.org/yabbse/index.php

Problem Description:
During the last several months my forums go down without any explanation (both forums are hosted on the same server). No errors are logged and the only message I get is "the document contains no data" in my browser. When I browse my site via Sam Spade, here's what's returned:

Quote
02/17/04 08:46:40 Browsing http://www.blue-crab.org/yabbse/index.php
Fetching http://www.blue-crab.org/yabbse/index.php ...
GET /www.blue-crab.org/yabbse/index.php HTTP/1.0

User-Agent: Sam Spade 1.14

HTTP/1.1 404 Not Found

Server: Apache/1.3.28 (Unix) mod_tsunami/2.0 mod_bwprotect/0.2 mod_log_bytes/1.2 mod_bwlimited/1.0 PHP/4.3.3 FrontPage/5.0.2.2634 mod_ssl/2.8.15 OpenSSL/0.9.6b

Content-Type: text/html; charset=iso-8859-1

<!DOCTYPE HTML PUBLIC "-//IETF//DTD HTML 2.0//EN">

<P>Additionally, a 404 Not Found
error was encountered while trying to use an ErrorDocument to handle the request.
</BODY></HTML>

I suspect that the problem is some sort of php or MySQL problem on the server hosting my site, but without any errors being logged or displayed, I have a hard time reporting the problem to my hosting provider (nothing useful in error.log, no error messages displayed to the browser).

Can someone tell me how to turn on error trapping so that I'll be able to see any and all errors?

By the way, the outage usually lasts several days then suddently everything is working again. The rest of my website works fine and other pages on my site that utilize php and calls to a MySQL database work fine too. The problem seems to be only affecting yabbse.

My other forum that's affected is located at:

That's not the correct GET request.  It should be:

GET /yabbse/index.php HTTP/1.0

As I said, I am pretty sure it's a problem with the server hosting my sites.

Here's the error I get from one of my custom php/MySQL scripts:

Quote
Warning: mysql_query(): Unable to save result set in /home/zinskine/public_html/bluecrabinfo/news/index.php on line 19
MySQL client run out of memory

So, I know something's up. The thing that bothers me is that yabbse does not return any error messages, so it's hard for me to report the problem to my hosting provider.  :-\

If you can, try to login with ssh and run the top command when it's like this...
