You don't need a mod, but you *do* need:

1. An appropriated appropriately chmodded 'attachments' directory.

2. To go to Installed 'Mods' Settings and Options -> Attachments (second section down) and check all the settings including (obviously) Attachments Mode, Attachments Upload Path and Attachments URL.

1. My ISP have chmodded the attachment folder to 777
2.  The settings are checked as follows;
(I have norewegian language pack, so my translation might be a bit odd)
Attachment modus = Activate all attachment
Allow guests to attach = Yes
Control fileextension = Yes
Show attach. as picture = yes
Allow only use of.... = Administrator, Global Moderator
Allow file extension = txt,jpg,gif,pdf,mpg,png
Max size = 100 kb
Max folder size = 15240

What should I do diffrently?

No, not in my profile. Not from local or webserver source

But when posting messages, it is possible to attach if I press the 'insert image' icon, and paste the address where the picture is at, between the tag's. (can not upload from local pc, only from webserver)

When attaching from the attchment box, it uses 30 seconds before it says someting like "session run out of time". (I test with 5kb pictures)

Can you explain what you mean by 'in my profile'?

NB That's hotlinking, not attaching. It's not subject to the same limitations.

Well, something's definitely not right, then, but I'm not sure what offhand...

In the profile you can get a picture as replacement for the ones that are included (Bruce Willis, Brad Pitt etc)

But I can't manage to upload any.

What are tools like "BoardMod v2.5.3" for if attaching pictures to a YaBB board is not a problem?

I've heard of several people that have the same problem, and was recommended to try a file attachment mod from http://www.boardmod.org/project.php

But you didn't ask for an avatar upload mod, you asked for help to get attachments uploaded to the forum...

BoardMod isn't a tool for attaching pictures, it's a tool (not the only one at that) for installing mods, and there are many, many mods that have nothing to do with attaching pictures!

Now, if you can explain exactly what you want to be able to do and what advice you've already been given, we might be able to start again here! :)

I'm fully aware of the fact that is a tool, and with that tool I wanted to install a file_extension mod. But maybe it is only for YaBB Gold.

1. I can't attach pictures when posting
2. I can't attch pictures in profile (avatar)

Check for yourself, to see the errormessage;

For that, you do need a mod, and there's one here that might be worth a look:

I can't because I'm neither an Admin nor a Global Mod on your forum so I'm not being given the option when I click 'svar'! But, even if you alter that setting, you might suggest the most appropriate place for me to try a test post because I don't speak Norsk and you have a lot of boards...

Hi - I have done some research now. Found that we actually could upload - so it has nothing to do with rights! - I think it`s the application which can`t show the files uploaded properly

The files are visible in the attachment folder (for me as admin) but when trying to visit the post where the picture was orginally attached, the session times out after 30 seconds.

Pls. be free to try to post anything, anywhere on my forum w/picture file and see what you think.

The language barrier should be no problem "skriv = post"  ;D
