YaBB SE Version: 1.5.4
PHP Version: 4.3.2
MySQL Version: 4.0.x
Server Platform: Macintosh
Link to Forum: brazil2005.no-ip.com/yabbse

Problem Description:
Hi
I have tried to setup email with my forum. In the Installed 'Mods' Settings and Options section, I have entered my ISP's smtp server (smtp.dsl.pipex.com). Whenever I use a function that uses email , I always get an error 550, helo command rejected.
Can anyone tell me how to get this working?
Thanks

Try just using sendmail instead... you can't really use smtp unless you have a smtp server installed on your machine (or server). I don't think you can enter your ISP's smtp server for it to work... it has to be a local server (I could be wrong... )

your ISP's mail server more than likely doesnt support authentication, it will just check the IP its being called from is within its allowed range.

Duh I'm talking rubbish since y ou are hosting your board on your adsl connection so the IP would of course be allowed. Make sure in your SMTP settings in installed mods and settings you dont have any username and password set?

Ok well thanks anyway :) I will phone my ISP and see what they say.
Anyone know how can I setup sendmail?

Also, how do I let guests start new topics? I'm sure i enabled it before, but I can't find where I enable it.... :-[

Thanks

I'm not really sure, but I always presumed that sendmail came with apache... (but you're using a Mac server, so where am I going?)

Maybe it has something to do with it running on a mac server?

HELO, if I remember, is used for NO authentication.  That means you should try USING authentication. (your username and password.)

The error I get when I try to authenticate with just my username is:
