Is there any way to email the actual message somebody posts?

you can click 'send topic' feature, and it will send u think link to that topic
if you want to copy the whole msg, just copy and paste

Actually what I would like is for the announcement feature to send a copy of the message that was posted as an email to my members.  Sort of an automatic process.

it can be done. check out function NotifyUsersNewAnnouncement in Post.php
you can add the post body into $send_body
Steps:
1. add $message into the global line
2. add $message somewhere inside $send_body

i'll post the entire function, if you dont know how to do it

there might be problems with bb code or html though
maybe it will be better to format the email in html, but that will be more work
