install error at 5

Problem Description:
I've been going through this board for about 2 hours. I've tried everyhting I know how to do.

Everything is fine until step 5. I tried skipping that step since I'm going to be using the converter.php later. I get this:

"Unable to connect to the database. Check that the user is allowed to access that database."

and if I fill out all the info to create the admin, I get this:

"Unable to connect to the MySQL server. Check your password and try again."

I found similar topics on this board, but those answers haven't been able to help.

If possible, I would be most grateful if someone could just install it for me.

Make sure that even if you are going to skip that step and you check the box, that you still put in your database password in the spot where it says "database password again, this is for security" or something to that effect.

I give up. This isn't worth all the trouble. I'll just continue to use yabb gold.

You get the error you described when you don't input the password again on step 5 where is says "input database password - this one is for security"!

Make sure Settings.php is chmod'd to 777.
