Problem Description:
Is it possible for the admin to be logged into the board but be invisible to others?

I have version YaBB SE 1.5.4/

Also can a board be created that is invisible to all but nominated users?

Thank you.  Cheers. :)

Yes and yes.

For the first, you'll need to find the mod in the completed mods section

For the second, just create a category and set it so only people in the membergroup you want can see it.
When you go to the "Edit Categories" area, you will see what I'm talking about.  It says "Only access for membergroup(s):" and in that blank, just put the membergroup who should have access..
Then create the board you want them to have under that category.

Thanks for the reply.  I've never added a mod and don't know if I'd have the computer knowledge or confidence to do so.
Is there much I can stuff up if I go wrong.  If there is I'd better leave well enough alone I think. :)

It isn't very hard to do.  Just use the yabbpack if the mod author offers it.. otherwise, you can use boardmod, which is pretty simple as well.

For yabbpacks, all you have to do is go into your admin area, click "yabbpack center" then add the server that the mod author has his/her mod's stored.  Then go to "download new yabbpacks" click their server, download the mod you want.. then install it.

If they don't offer it in yabbpack, you could always bug them to do so.. or get boardmod.  http://www.boardmod.org/ and use it to install mods.  Mods that must be installed using boardmod will have the extension *.mod.
If you need to know how to use boardmod, there should be some posts around here somewhere detailing it for you so that you can't really mess up unless you deliberately try to.  If I get bored later, I might go dig one up for you.. otherwise you could use the "search" option in the menu way up above to find it.
