Covert from highly moded SE to fresh version

Yep, I want to start over.

I converted my highly moded yabbgold to yabbse, now I want to convert the highly moded yabbse, to plain ole yabbse, so I can start fresh, i am having too many problems with the mods that were converted and installed.

How can I install a fresh YaBBse, and transfer my members, posts and boards over?

Well you could just overwrite all your Yabbse source files with new source files.  Go download the safe mode package and extract it, it has all the sources in it.  Once you upload them all (do NOT upload a new settings.php or template.php!) then you will be running a "fresh" yabbse board.  There will be a bunch of garbage in your database but it shouldn't matter much.

What problems are you having with your board?  It might be caused by a mod you have installed.  Have you considered tracking down which mod is causing the problem and asking the author for help?

No really big problems, just little things.

Like i said my yabbgold was heavily moded when i converted, then i installed supermod on the newly converted yabbse.

I think it will be better if i start with a fresh yabbse and then install super mod.  I just don't want to lose all my members, posts, and boards.

Please realize that Supermod is a different distribution from YaBBSE.  So if you are just going to use SuperMod anyway, you might as well skip uploading Yabbse over again and just reupload the source files for Supermod.  Just make sure you do NOT upload settings.php and do NOT run install.php.

Also, if you are having problems with Supermod, you should go ask for help at http://www.supermod.org as they provide tech support for it there.

Yeah I am asking for help in both places.  The problem is some of the supermod features don't work because my board was so heavly moded before I did the conversion.  I thought that if I did a fresh install of YaBBse, install Supermod, and then transfer my posts, members, boards, settings, and template it would fix the problems.  Am I wrong in my train of thought?

Your Yabb Gold board being heavily modded shouldn't really matter..

Probably because you are using Supermod.  What I would do if I were you is get Yabbse 1.5.4, just download the safe mode package, extract it, then upload all the sources except settings.php (and skip template.php too, if you've editted your template) then see how that works for you..  then if you need to, you can install some mods onto it.
I'm betting you it will work many times better than your board does now.

I just don't care for all the filler.  I think it makes the board run less efficiently.. but hey, it's great for newbies and people who can't install mods on their own.  I would highly recommend it to people who don't feel comfortable making changes to their files..

So which route are you going to go?

I do both actually,  I am not good enough to come up with my own code, but I am able to take lines of code and make look like I want.
