Problem Description:
I have a question about using BoardMod.  I've installed some mods to my board manually.
I would like to use BoardMod for future installation of Mods but from some posts I've read in this community I'm not sure that I can.  Because I haven't used BoardMod for the other mods, do I now have to stick to doing Mods manually?

I wanted to install the smilies Mod but it says you can only install them with BoardMod.  Before I download BoardMod I wanted to see if that's even an option for me.

Thank you for your assistance.

Well, if you ever install a mod, either by hand or with BoardMod/YaBBPak, there's always a chance that future mods will have to be hand installed. This is simply because not every mod writers code is 100% compatible with everyone else's. When the smilies mod says only install by boardmod, that means he doesn't have a YabbPak. You could still install it by hand, but it's worth a shot to try boardmod first if you don't like hand installs. Otherwise, hand installing is pretty easy.

BoardMod is really stupid. It's like a small child. It just knows the commands like <REPLACE>, <ADD AFTER>, <SEARCH FOR>...and then does it. So if you just open the mod file in notepad (or even boardmod under the manual install option) you'll be able to follow it pretty easily. Also, if you need any help installing a certain mod, just post on the mod's thread and the creator or someone who has the mod themselves can most likely help you.

I installed the mod and it works.  Thank you!

I did notice however that in the readme instructions it mentioned BoardModSE.  I didn't see any version of Board Mod that was SE.  I downloaded the only one I saw at the boardmod site which was BoardMod 2.5.3 .  Is there an SE version that I should be using instead?

If the one you are using now is working, then you don't really need to worry about it much.
