Email notifications partially dont work

Problem Description:
In a fresh installed 1.5.4 board there is a strange problem with email notifications. Partially notifications work and partially not.

What is working fine:
email notification on post replies, send topics.

What is not working:
password reminder, email notification on private messages.


If anybody had an idea what could cause this issues I would be very happy. Thanks in advance.

Additonal information: the forum email is sent via sendmail. I did already try to change to smtp however then not any forum emails were sent at all.

And nothing is in your error log?

They all use sendmail... does sending topics work?

No.

Yes (added to list above).

Does your host have any way for you to check the sendmail errors?  I know with my server (it's SMTP though..) I can check if any errors occurred - for example, maybe there's a wierd character.

After all, the email notifications include the im.... maybe the im itself has problems.

Not sure on password reminder :/.

After work I will try if it helps to re-upload all sources (will unip a safe mod install) and will report if this helped.

Hah. Today I tested again and it works!    In fact I had forgotten to reupload the sources because the forum is not very active so far. Must have been some weird server problem.
