Prevent "leeching"?

I was wondering if someone over here could answer this for me: how do I prevent people who upload for instance image files to my board to use them elsewhere by linking to it?
I'd like to prevent people from leeching my bandwidth like that as some people for instance use it to upload a signature image and then use the link to it on my server on other boards as well. Any way to put a stop to this either through SE or my Cpanel?
Server is running CPanel 6 and Apache/Redhate Linux with PHPadmin installed.

You can do this with a .htaccess (and I do, but still allowing certain sites to link). Try Googling for "prevent leeching" and/or "prevent hotlinking".
