weird server 500 error prob

this morning my board was showing this error... I've changed nothing since it was running last night.

other php scripts on my site are running fine.

- was very confused...

i happened to go into phpmyadmin and noticed that _log_clicks table was 'in use'.... after repairing table ('checking' it and using the drop down repair) everything magically worked again.

i thought SE used to show an error if it couldnt use a table?

The detailled error uses to be in the errorlog. Is there an entry in the error log? If does it say the table is in use?

well thats the thing....

it just showed the standard white 500 server error page until i repaired the table....


there is nothing in the error log

Maybe the locked table caused the db not to be successfully be opened and connected at all. So if the error happens that early the program is not able to write anything into the db...

nah its not that... the db is fine.. its just one table.
afaik u cant 'not access the db' just not access one table.

whats confusing is.. when this happened before i'm sure it showed an error onthe forum index.. not the 500 error.

ok scrap all the above...

it just happened again.

now.. this time though.. the table wasnt 'in use'

but as soon as i emptied the clicks table....the board worked again

!?!

any one any ideas?!

Maybe delete the table and then re-create it.

just had the original problem again.. board was dead... other php scripts and some sql queries on other tables worked fine.. hitting repair fixed the situation  :-\
