Language Pack You Wish to Use: An Error Has Occurred!

2: SAFE MODE Restriction in effect. The script whose uid is 163892 is not allowed to access /data/members/free/tripod/uk/l/o/u/LouisGuest owned by uid 0
(/data/members/free/tripod/uk/l/o/u/LouisGuest/htdocs/Sources/Profile.php ln 332)

Depends on your FTP client, but probably (assuming Unix hosting) right click the directory, look for a menu item called 'change attributes', 'chmod' or something like that leading to something like the attached dialogue box (this one is from Bulletproof FTP). Depending on your FTP client again, add the numbers together (read = 4, write = 2, execute = 1) or check the relevant boxes to specify the permissions for each user group. Note that a setting like I've shown allows everyone to do everything, so it's consequently the least secure. 755 is also a common setting for directories.

Looks like you're using Tripod.  Look around, there are Tripod and Lycos fixes....

Free hosts don't work too well though :/.

Download all the files off your server, delete the yabbse directory, and then create it in the FTP and upload it all again.

Thanks Unknown. I was afraid that was going to be the solution. Will my existing database survive the re-install process or will I have to re-install and then restore the database? In any event, I will back up the database.

I started fresh and did a clean full install of 5.3. I did a safe mode install and was perfect on making sure to follow instructions to a T. I still get the eror message display on the edit profile, which prevents me from editing anyones profile.

- does the board install directory have read permissions?
- if yes: who is the owner of the board source php files?
