Few questions from the php/MySQL newbie

I've seen a few of you at YaBB  :-*

I'm setting up additional forums and had some questions.

1) When attaching an image, why am I getting this error?

Quote: opendir(/usr/home/v1/a0012660/html/forums/attachments) [function.opendir]: failed to open dir: No such file or directory
(/usr/home/web/users/a0012660/html/forums/Sources/Post.php ln 900)
The folder is there and is set to 755.

2) When feeding the news to a test page I get nothing.  Depending on what variable I try I either get garbage letters, "an error occured while processing this directive," or nothing at all.  I've tried relative paths and absolute paths.  Any suggestions?

3) I tried searching "users online" to feed it to an .html page, but only found info in the German board.  :-\  Is there a mod to feed users online, last post, etc. info to an html page?

TIA  ;D

Your path is now:
/usr/home/v1/a0012660/html/forums/attachments

It should probably be:
/usr/home/web/users/a0012660/html/forums/attachments

Look at SSI.php.

Where do I change the path to the attachments?  My host did "upgrade" all the servers the other day and now I do have some new parent directories.

They do not allow 777.  I've always used 755.  Works good  :)  It's just got to be the path then.  I do not see it in the Settings.php file with the others.  So I'm not sure.  Thanks again for the help  :D

it's in Admin Center -> Installed Mod Settings
the settings are saved in the database, not Settings.php ;)

Oh, you guys are awesome.  Got the users online and the attachments figured out.  One more and then I'm out of your hair.  The news still isn't interpreting incorrectly.  It's just loading characters like:
