Can't find where to change how karma is displayed

I am trying to change the way messages look when they are posted with yabb 1.5.1 SE, namely the poster info on the left column with each message. I found a place in display.php where the name, title, avatar, and all that is, but it appears to me that karma was somehow added into the $star variable somewhere and despite my best efforts (and unfamiliarity with php) I cannot find where to change this. On my board, I would like to even modify this so that karma AND posts are represented with stars. At the very least I want to separate the post stars from the karma line.  Just in case, here's a representation:

currently looks like:

Username
Title

Stars (*****)
Karma: xxx

and so on..

Anyway, what I need to know most is where exactly the karma display can be modified so that I can change where or maybe how it is displayed. Thanks!

No, not just the labels, I am changing the order and the way user info is displayed with messages. I found everything in display.php but like i said... (see above post)

Addendum: I don't really want to wait for someone else's timeline on something that I probably won't be able to figure out anyway. I've been using perl for years and I'm new to php. Anyway...

All I need is for someone to tell me where I can find the code that dictates how the karma for users in posts are displayed so I can modify it. That's really the only change I want to make that I haven't been able to figure out yet. Like I said, I was able to modify the appearance and placement of the user name, title, custom text, online/offline img, etc BUT it appears that the karma was somehow compounded with the stars display and there's my problem. I need to know where this is or what file its in to change it. Thanks.

What do you want to change exactly? The layout of the Smite/Applaud buttons?

I want to make it so that karma is not displayed directly below the member stars, i want to make it so that # of posts is displayed directly below member stars, and then karma is displayed below THAT.
