Can't install most mods with boardmod

Ok....I just been trying to install some mods with boardmod 2.53, I'm running yabbse 1.5.1.

Just about every mod I try to install gets errors saying it can't find the string....this is a clean file up until I was bale to install a mod that only did one edit of one line.

What seems to be the problem?

Make sure the mods you are trying to install are compatible for 1.5.1, if they don't say 1.5.1 in them chances are they won't work with it.

And if there are mods for 1.5.1 not working, talk to the mod maker about it.

well, I checked & all of the mods are for 1.51..... I even checked to see if I could find the lines it couldn't myself & sure enough they were there.

can u tell us which mod u're trying to install and in which step the error shows?

I think you need to use the version before the newest version of Boardmod.  If you have the newest version it doesn't always work.

I did download version 2.52 & installed it but never used it as when I was going to use it I found 2.53 was released.

I then downloaded that & installed that without uninstalling 2.53...maybe that was a mistake?

I just now tried to go back to 2.52 to test if that worked, I went to uninstall 2.53 but it got some kind of error when I tried to uninstall it (still removed it from my add/remove list tho). I then installed 2.52 again but I get the same errors with that.

Posts Per Day

plus some others.

The one that installed ok was:

hideDBpw [for 1.5.1]

I'm using 2.51.  That works for most mods, unless they don't work with a previously installed mod.

A lot of mods come with the Supermod.  You don't need Boardmod for the Supermod, you just upload the safe mode package instead.  Have a look at the thread at the top of the completed mods board.  You could also try looking for the yabbpaks.

Spaceman Spiffs mods always work for me with 2.51.  Most are compatable with 1.5.1.  Folllow the white rabbit in his sig.

Some mods are also easy to do manually.  Just use the find function in notepad.

I don't know how to use boardmod (is it avail. for mac? or is it a php thing?)

And I can't seem to pull off your monkey site from within the mod installer in the admin center....

Angel.... with the super mod, how do you mean safe mode?

Some servers don't allow the standard install, so all the files need to be uploaded first and then installed that way.  The supermod has a way of installing that way to.  You upload the files, run a couple through your server then run install.php like you would with a new install.  It's really easy to do just slightly more time consuming.  However so long as you are careful to store a backup of your files on your PC, it should work perfectly.
