No... they're pretty clean. There's a drop shadow, so you have to have the matte. The PSDs are available on my site with the buttons (along with the buttons available on 4 separate mattes). If you're background isn't white, black, tan, or green, you'll need to download the source files and "save for web" using a different matte.
