[Done 1.5.x] Member Map

Just installed this mod and everything seemed to go smoothly. Used boardmod, and it's the first mod that I haven't had to install manually. Was really pleased!

But am now getting

2: SAFE MODE Restriction in effect. The script whose uid is 10101 is not allowed to access . owned by uid 0
(/usr/local/psa/home/vhosts/moviecompound.com/httpdocs/forums/Sources/MemberMap.php ln 43)

In the instructions it says:

4. enter the modsettings page and make any changes needed

I must be dumb or something cos I can't find where that is?!


Any ideas?

Ok. That first message means that your host has safe mode turned on. Safe Mode is a php feature that prevents scripts from modifying files they didn't create. I'm not real sure what to tell you.

I have a quick question... I'm using the member list plus, and instead of showing the city and state/province and country, it shows the "key" for that particular region. How do I fix this?

Well I guess I need to know if anyone else has safe mode running and uses member map then?


Could anyone confirm if it's possible to use member map with safe mode on?

oldiesmann run the mm_location mod files to fix that. They were made specifically for people who used the memberlist mod. It creates a new entry in the members table to store the location instead.

sharkey the modsettings page is in your admin center. When do you get this error? On every page you visit or just some of them?

OK well I know where all the mod settings are, but there's nothing about the membermap on there, is there meant to be? If so what exactly needs setting?

The forums work exactly as they did before, the member map button has been added to the menu but when you click it you get the above error, see for yourself:

I can't access anything to do with the member map.

Now I feel stupid, I thought ok well there must be something missing from the modsettings page, so i uploaded the mod settings file again and it works now....doh!

There were 7 files to upload and I must have only done 6 missing out modsettings.

I'm having a new problem. I had to edit everything to work with the fancy member list... Now it won't show the flag on the board because it doesn't seem to know where you are...

Ok. I decided to go back through the membermap.mod file and see if I could figure out what was causing it to not load the flag. After looking, I figured it out. Turns out if you change the location field like I did, you also have to edit a line in load.php

Search for:

Code Select Expand

   list($member_isset, $member_continent, $member_xcoord, $member_ycoord, $member_country, $member_location, $member_region) = explode('|', $userprofile[$user]['location']);

Replace with:

Code Select Expand

   list($member_isset, $member_continent, $member_xcoord, $member_ycoord, $member_country, $member_location, $member_region) = explode('|', $userprofile[$user]['mm_location']);


That fixed it! :-D

One more thing... Now that I've got the new version installed, when you click on a username under a country, it doesn't do anything. I know it's supposed to make the pin white, but nothing happens, and I don't get any errors. Also, when you update the membermap info and click on "save pin", it just closes the window instead of closing it and refreshing the membermap window like it used to.

If I may be so bold - much as the various maps look lovely, I figure it's going to be easier on my own users if I could use one single world graphic.

I figure the mod would work fine with just the one .gif - but is there a world .gif already available for this?

Just find one on the net (google image search)
Just make sure its size is the exact same size as the others (or resize it).

Then upload it to your "Continents" dir. and set it as the default map in your modsettings.

I seem to remember removing all the other countries.gif files from the "Continents" dir, so they wouldn't show. But it is probably best to move them to another dir just in case you need them.

Its not a good idea to do this if you already have members who have already set their pins (like I did!), you end up with pins in the middle of the ocean

One thing against this... If you have a lot of members, their pins get very confusing!

I, Brian all you would need to do is upload a world map to the Continents directory as GWP mentioned.
