I have not been paying attention... anyone know which build introduced the change from using the var "$cgi" to using "$scripturl" to refer to the board in Admin.php?  I'm not sure which build I am running but it uses $cgi.  Just wondering...

[edit]I guess it has always had both for the same thing but at some point $cgi was replaced with $scripturl everywhere[/edit]

[edit]I take that back... it was not replaced everywhere... just some places.... this sucks!  Now I have mods failing on searches.[/edit]

-Jack

Sorry, I was the one who removed them from Admin.php... that's basically the only place.  It seemed VERY odd that the board was being passed in administration... (???)

Why is $cgi always used?  IMHO, it should only be used when the board is needed....

Anyhow, it doesn't matter that much - does it?  You only replace "$cgi . ';" with "$scripturl . '?".

I am running YaBBSE 1.5.1 RC 45 (latest) and am still having problems with the board not displaying when compressed output is enabled.

Also, in the "Live from YaBBSE" floating frame on the admin control panel, no page displays, only this error:

Fatal error: ob_start() [ref.outcontrol]: Cannot use output buffering in output buffering display handlers in /home/USERNAME/bbs/Sources/Subs.php on line 222

(USERNAME was my home path, I edited it out)

This only happens if compressed output is enabled.

I've always understood this message to mean that your host already has output buffering on, and hence you cannot do it twice.

So if your host has output buffering on you don't need to check enable output compression? I thought host output compression only applied to HTML files and such, I didn't know they auto-compressed PHP scripts.

Sorry, I'm just incredibly unfamiliar with the new way YaBBSE is doing output buffering. I always stored everything to one huge string, then compressed that string with an HTTP header noting it was compressed output and echoed that.

I think that's how YaBBSE used to do it a long time ago. I'm not familiar with the language's output buffering functions.

Thanks for clearing that up. I'll make sure to disable the compressed output option on all my boards on this server now.

Same here.  Furthermore, when compressed output is enabled, the "stats" page comes up blank; the following appears in the error log:

Quote
/cgi-bin/YaBBSE/index.php?board=;action=stats
2: (null)() [<a href='http://www.php.net/ref.outcontrol'>ref.outcontrol</a>]: output handler 'ob_gzhandler' cannot be used twice <br />(Unknown ln 0)

Both work fine when compressed output is disabled.

I had the same problem once, but it seemed to be a silly error from my side.

Seems like you're still using an outdated Language pack.
Try setting the default language to English and upload the english.lng included in the upgrade package - that should work ;)

Build 45? I was unaware that this build was released! I have a lot of work ahead of me now (not because of upgrading, but because I have to edit some of the newer php files so that they will work with my mods that I've installed). Fortunately, that email members feature works great and I can just put the board in Maintenance Mode until I'm done :)

Yes indeed. When I upgraded to 1.5.1 RC1 everything updated except the godamn language file.
Things is, (don't laugh please), how do I update the .lng language file. I uploaded it from YaBB download, unzipped it and ftp'd  it to replace the old lng file on my server... then I check the installed version in the admin... and sure enough... it still says that I'm using the old 1.3.0 language file...
