Further news.php questions

Got News.php working fine, but here's a function that I could really use.  Is there some way to grab certain parts of a news post (kinka like right now you have variables representing various sections of a post that you can specify in SSI to be put on another page as a news post) to a file?  Right now we have a flash site that has news updates inside the flash via a .txt file.  Is there some way you could get some CGI function or something to take specified parts of a post and write them to a .txt file?

Or you can always try to write a flash varable that pulls the data from the database, there are some tutorials somewhere on the net.
