Go to
http://www.boardmod.org/downloads.php and download the latest version of Boardmod. Install it.
First, make sure you have a copy of all of your forum files on your hard drive (in the correct folder path as well. i.e. all Source files are in Sources, ect)
Now upload Smilies.php to yourforum/Sources folder
Upload smiliesdbmod.php to yourforum folder
Open up a web browser and type in the url to smiliesdbmod.php i.e.
http://www.totaltwaddle.co.uk/board/smiliesdbmod.phpDelete smiliesdbmod.php after successful execution.
Now, put Smilies.mod in your boardmod yabbse 1.5.1 folder (default install path is C:\Program Files\BoardMod\Mods\YaBB SE 1.5.1)
Open Board mod. On the top, it says Path to Script, click the little folder icon next to it and navigate to your forum folder on your hard drive. On the little pulldown menu called 'Objects of type:' change that to the pull down choice called 'index.php (for YaBB SE) (index.php)'
You should see index.php appear now if you're in the right folder. Select that and hit ok.
Back in the main board mod window, to the right of the folder icon you'll see a pulldown menu. Click that and select YaBB SE 1.5.1 (should be at the very bottom, I believe)
In the right window, you should now see the smilies mod listed (if you put the mod file in the right folder.)Click the check box and it should try to auto-install. If something fails, you're going to need to edit the files yourself. It does give you explicit instructions on what to search for and what to do next.
After editing all of the files, re-upload them to their appropriate locations. Test.
As you can see, modding can be a big thing. It's easy once you've gotten the hang of it, but it does require a bit of work. So please make sure that you're cautious and patient. Modding, once mastered, will give you a lot in the way of knowledge. You'll quickly understand how most things work and why they work. If you need any help, don't be afraid to ask.
