Okay, I've ironed out the bugs from the last Beta, and I'm going to release Smilies 2.1 for beta testing again.

This time there should be *no* problems. So, if anyone is willing to test it out and let me know how they get on, just download the Mod attached to this post.

Someone had this issue a few pages ago, but it doesn't give an answer really. This is in my Post.php:

(Right now I just set the window width and heighth to display with no scrolling)

Worked like a charm!!  that new dropdown is a GREAT improvement.  Especially since you don't have to tab between two windows if you want to add multiple smilies.

One minor detail.  When I look at my smilie info (in the popup window) i see that it's still displaying smilies from the default YaBBImages folder instead of the new smilies folder the mod requested we create and fill.  Do I need that smilies folder afterall?  It's not doing anything presently but just duplicating my files.

Metho, I'm not great at javascript, so you're best off asking some people who know their javascript

charlottezweb, you *need* the smilies folder to use this mod. Just create (or let the smiliesdbmod.php file make) the folder in your main yabb se folder.

Then when you read the directory, or just add smilies they are grabbed from that folder.

Let me know if that's what you mean.

BTW, you don't need to copy your normal/default smilies to the smilies folder. Only the ones you're adding

Right, but what's the point of having smilies in two locations?  From the instructions, it sounds as though they're consolidating all smilies into the new "smilies" folder.  But it's not for me.

Besides, if it did, i'd be scared that all the posts from the lsat year or so would have broken smilies links...

Man, your original smilies are there to stay, that's why they *stay* in your YaBBImages folder. Especially if you want to uninstall the mod.

Just so you know, you're the first person to think they had to put the original smilies in newly created folder

Hehe...so if we're upgrading and have 200+ already in our normal YabbImages folder, then wouldn't it make sense to simplify things and move them to the new folder?  I'll just do it manually.

From an organizational view, if you've had your mod running already, it's ridiculous to have a hundred something smilies in multiple directories.  I assumed the mod would read from the new smilies folder and create the listing again.

There's no way I could get the installer to read your smilies you were adding before. Well I could, but it'd take you longer to do it.

Just put all your *new* smilies in the smilies folder, enable "Smiley Dir Reading" in the mod settings and you're off! If you have a suggestion, let me know.

Yeah, no worries.

Like I said, It's a great mod, and my members couldn't live without it.  They LOVE the new dropdown "quick view" feature too.

I might manually move my former smilies over and rebuild them in the new location, but it's probably not worth it because of all the broken images it would cause if I deleted the original location.  I will continue to add new ones to the new folder, however.

What broken images are you talking about? You can't get broken images with the update. You'll have code left behind from your smilies though like :lol: or whatever. If that's what you mean?

No, I mean if i was to move all my smilies out of the old YabbImages folder and "readd" them into the smilies mod new folder, all of my posts prior to the upgrade (that are calling on the smilies from the YabbImages folder) would be broken at that point and new posts would be fine.  I'd have to leave the old ones in the current location for those posts not to be affected, correct?

1) The images wont be broken. The smilies mod parses the code. It doesn't save the code as html <img> tags. So you'd have :lol: instead of the old images.

2) To fix this put your *new* smilies in the smilies folder. Don't enable the "Read Smiley Dir" and the smilies mod will replace the text with the images in your smilies folder.

Understand? I take it your smilies are added to the SQL database since you had this mod installed before. So it's really very easy. Just move the smilies to the smilies folder (not your regular 16!) and they'll be replaced. It's really quite simple!
