I just upgraded my forums from 1.4 to 1.5.1 Build 44 and everything seemed to be working fine.

In the last 24 hours though things have been getting really SLOW..

I know it is not the host in general because everything else on the site besides the forums still runs fast.  It is just the forums.. maybe the database??

Anyways.. the forums just seem to hang up at random spots..  Doesn't matter what message I am trying to access, or if I am just trying to access the main board index.  It just sits there indefinitely trying to load.

Has anyone seen this?

Try deleting the line that says:

ClickLog();

From index.php.... it slows everything down a lot sometimes.

jp, try downloading the newest package and running the upgrade again.  You may not have gotten a complete version of the upgrade.php file.

The error you are getting is a common problem people get when upgrae.php is not completed successfully.

This is a request to implement a feature to address a serious security hole, as Yabb SE does not seem to have this yet:
anti-flood registration

the best way to tackle this would having random numbers and letters appear for every unique registration session which the person will have to verify by typing it in a box.

examples:
(Yabb Platinum, modded YaBB SP1.2)
http://www.yabb.nl/cgi-bin/platinum/YaBB.pl?board=;action=register

compareable mod for phpBB:
(Anti Robotic Register Flood)
http://www.phpbb.com/mods/downloads/index.php?t=sub_pages&cat=17

Hopefully this will be taken into consideration.  :)

I have an idea of how to do this that should be easy to implement.  Will bring it up with the rest of the devs.

Did you guys do something to the $menusep for the main menubar.  I just took a look and mine, and it was edited out, nothing in the graphics, and the pipe was hardcoded for the text links.

I put it back in, but I want to know if it was removed for a reason.  Also...  I noticed there's still a space here.  wtf....

i just thought this failure is because of this ;)
but how do i finish upgrade.php successfull? or can someone tell me the steps upgrade.php does so that i can do it myself?

that's be awesome, would be great if this would be implemented in the default version, think this is important enough to not make it an optional MOD but simply implement it....but then again...that's my humble opinion  ;)

I'm running RC1 44 on one of my boards and all my users, including myself, have told me about this problem.

When you load the board at first, you just get a white page and it says finished loading. Then if you click refresh, it displays fine. I was having this same problem in 1.5.0 as well. I've noticed it only happens on Windows comps because when I'm at work, it comes up right away in Mac IE 5.0.

At home I run WinXP with IE 6.0.

Is this some kind of browser issue? It seems odd that 20 people on my forum would all be having the same browser issue.

think this issue is also known in the regular YaBB version...experienced it there sometimes too a while ago. Didn't bother looking into it further though as it went away after about 2 days after installation of the board never to return again.
Maybe one of the guru's here got a clue?

It's been going on for me about 3 weeks steady now with no break in sight.

At least it works fine once you refresh but it's still VERY annoying.

This problem was fixed in 1.5.1, are you sure you uploaded all the files and ran the upgrade???

Anyways to fix this problem you have to go into the mods and settings area in the admin section and disable the 'Enable Compressed Output'.... for some reason it causes this problem.... but again it was fixed in 1.5.1 it's wierd that you still have this problem.

Think it could be a problem with my version of the Zlib package for PHP?

I just re-uploaded ALL the upgrade/update files again and it still has the problem. Even when I uncheck output compression, users are still sent to a white screen first. Then when they refresh the page comes up.

Here's the phpinfo() entry for Zlib:

ZLib Support  enabled
Compiled Version  1.1.3
Linked Version  1.1.3

Directive Local Value Master Value
zlib.output_compression Off Off
zlib.output_compression_level -1 -1
zlib.output_handler no value no value
