Will the shortened URL actually improve spidering??

Looking at the original post, it seems to be changing internal YaBB SE links to relative paths, rather than absolute paths.

If search egnines such as Google really do have problems spidering database-driven sites, then I really don't see how relative paths would help at all.

Or have I completely missed something?

You're approaching this from the wrong angle.

Think of it this way.  Search spiders have problems with:
- dynamic sites.
- absolute URLs.

Now, it'll improve your chances and bandwidth if you remove one.  Sure, I can't remove both.... but one's better than nothing.

Do spiders have problems with absolute URLs??

If modding the session ID cookie for other boards solves their problems, is that not applicable here??

Yes, they often do.

No, not applicable.  Think of it as already done.

The package server is back online. :)

No working links in it, but the Boardmod download appears to work. :)

I found another problem, it's at the topic-reply notification, it sends you the short URL, how can we update the scrip to send the full forum URL?
Thanks! :)

[Unknown],

Thanks for providing the fix.

There's one more place where you get sent a relative address - it's when you use 'Send Topic' button.

Could you provide the fix for that too?

Thanks,

Vit
