Like I said, I wasn't sure if the yabbpak affected the mysql tables needed. I could very well be wrong, and I'm guessing I am.

When I used the boardmod version, everything went off perfectly for me, once I figured out I needed to run the dbmod.php file.

The problem is, the YaBBPak version skipped the last 2 steps of the mod (The steps for Subs.php).
Download your Subs.php, and open up the smilies.mod file from the zip file. Go to the last two steps, which work in Subs.php and manually add them to your Subs.php file.
Then upload the Subs.php file. But make sure you backup your Subs.php file in case you make a mistake.

Thank you for your help nonetheless everyone My only other, probably silly question is, what exactly should the last two steps read as? (I don't want to mess anything up, LOL, so I'm double checking) and also, where exactly do I need to add them to in my Subs.php file?

Just open the "smilies.mod" file with a text editor eg: Notepad.  and all will (should) become clear.

Open up wordpad/notepad, and open up smileys.mod in it. Then, scroll down to where it says

Sources/Subs.php
</edit file>

Underneath that, manually make the changes that it says, to your Subs.php.

I don't fully understand you. There are bits like this:
<search for>
code
</search for>

Search for the code given in the search tags in your Subs.php file, and do what it says next. Like add after that, or replace that code etc. It's basically step by step instructions.

Having problems similar to the ones when I wrote it

I installed the mod by hand, so i didn't miss any steps, but I can't update the database... any reason you can think of?  the mysql code ain't working...

I had that problem as well. The only thing I was able to do, was tell my assistant webmaster, who had access to the mysql as I wasn't at my normal computer, to delete the table entirely. The dbmod.php file says something like 'table already exists', or something similar. Just delete / completely empty the table that it's trying to update, and then run the file.  Should work then

Exactly. That means the mod was already installed. The DB had changed from the last version (1.3) which I take it you were using Matt? The neccessary changes are in the readme.htm file (the SQL) anyway.
