Why can I not stay logged in?

With my board If I log in then close my browser and go back to my board, it thinks I'm a guest and tells me to log in. If I click on "log in", before I enter my user name or password the board logs me in automatically so i can click on admin from the log in page.

On this support board, if i close my browser and come back my cookies work fine and I'm still logged in.

I've tried everything on this thread and the "login trouble" thread and nothing's worked. I've tried accepting all cookies including third party and allowing session cookies but it doesn't make a difference. I am using Internet Explorer 6. I've tried Opera and the same thing happens there so surely it must be something to do with the code or configuration of the board?? I'm using the 1.3 version by the way and the board is at

I did a new install of YaBBSE 1.3.0 late last night and have spent the rest of the morning trying to get the login straightened out.  I understand the cookie problem, deleted cookies, renamed cookies, tried everything I can think of.  If I use Netscape or MSIE I can't stay logged in.  If I use Opera I stay logged in fine.  With MSIE I set the options to prompt before accepting cookies.  When logging in I do get a prompt to accept the cookies but still get logged out when I try to move away from the index page.  Help would be appreciated.

Sorry, I forgot to say that I did that.  I can't find anything on the boards that I haven't tried but keep throwing suggestions at me, maybe there's something I'm not getting?

Maybe I'm repeating now something what already was posted many many times, but I'm going to say it anyway: (I'm new here, so I don't realy know how everything is going on here)

It makes a huge difference which host you've got, I've got the same problem, on my Endoria (dutch host), so I can't stay logged in with IE, but on the same Endoria host I can stay logged in, when I'm using Mozzila, same goes to this host, I can't stay logged in, with IE on this YaBBSE board, except with Mozilla, then it works perfectly. But my brother is running on our local network also a host with YaBBSE and I can stay logged in on this host with Mozilla but also with Internet Explorer!!!! Very strange...

(excuses for my english again, it's bad, I know, but I'm used to use Dutch on the forum of YaBB.nl (hope you can understand (a little bit) what I'm posting...))

Thats because http://yabb.info/community and http://www.yabb.info/community are two different things.  Without the www. you will NOT be logged in when joining the board but as soon you hit the first link on the board that has the www. in it, say the login screen....the board remembers you then.  Check your bookmark that use to go your board and see if you included the www.  This drove me nuts for MONTHS trying to figure it out.

I think there's a LOT of people with the same problem as me and that worked!!! I didn't my board bookmarked or linked with www.canaryforum but now that I do, it's finally sorted!!!!

Yeah it's a minor bug...........can't even remember how I stumbled across that.  Like I said I tried for months to figure it out and then the light came on some how...........glad that worked for you.

As much as this topic has been beaten to hell I still can't seem to get this to work.

We have moved our forum to a new location and I can't get it to keep anyone logged in.

I have tried sll the trick and tips that have been posted in here and still nothing.

I have added the trusted sites, made sure cookies were enabled, changed the cookie names, removed the www from the heading of the board URL .. and still I have nothing.

I don't know what else to try.
And the screwed thing is .. on this forum, I didn't even need to have the trusted site added and it worked.
What is it that you guys have done that I haven't thought of to make this work!!!
Someone please help me .. I am getting very frustrated.

The site is hosted on www.your-site.com.  I have paid for the hosting and it still isn't working.  A fresh install of YabbSE 1.3 and the server isn't in safe mode.

I don't know what else to do .. I need to get this running ASAP.

my site is in coolfreepages and yabbse have the same login problem but i can stay logged in, only the other members and users can't

try using the link sent out by email, there's a thread about the lycos bug fix, it could work on that host as well.

i just got a domain and my users cannot stay logged in.

I know why. It is because the URL cloaking is on... i would like a solution other than turning URL cloaking off. For some reason the cookies arent allowed when url cloaking is on. I can easily allow them then it works. But id rather have another solution because

(a) i dont want to turn off URL cloaking
(b) i do not want to have to explain to everyone on how to allow the cookies
