Quote from: mephisto_kur on January 30, 2003, 01:49:20 AMI don't have a suggestion, but you can me the aplpha testing stuff to my site, if you'd like.

What the heck was that!
I swear, english is my native language!  What I meant to say was that until Moya gets her site back up, we can move the pfabb alpha testing stuff over to my forum, just so we don't ruffle too many feathers.

I think it meant he wanted to take a peek at what I've been up to, Mephisto. ;)

I have absolutely no problems with that, especially if I screwed something up royally... I'd rather know now then later.

Just wish I could get a straight answer from my host, all I get are emails that say:

QuoteHello,

We are currently looking into this issue. We are deeply sorry
for the inconvenience caused.

Kindly bear with us. This issue will be resolved as soon as
possible.

Thank You.
Best Regards

QuoteWhat do you mean allegedly its a forum... what else would it be? Not a portal...
Hey now!  be nice.  For all I know what I saw could have only been a small piece of the whole pie!  I'm the type who doesnt assume, and asks questions, gathers more info.  Don't smack me if you see me asking questions, even if there are obvious answers to them.  Usually when I assume an answer, I'm wrong. So I dont do that  :P

This is probably entirely the wrong place to ask, but can anyone shed a little light for me on why YaPP (which borrows even its name from the YaBB legacy :P) is building their own forum from scratch instead of sticking with a perfectly good, mature product like YaBB SE?

The only hint I could see at xbb.agigames.com was this vague post by an unidentified individual:

You two need to get your priorities straight.

YaPP was great until I discovered how faulty YaBB SE was. Dirty scorpions undying desire to exploit all bugs in YaBB SE and YaPP... Bah

The reasons are strictly non-altruistic.

Well from what I hear, they want to charge for YaPP and with SE as such a large part of it and the license it uses they would run into issues.

So...they will create their own and then have the ability to charge for it.

Now, a few months ago I also said they were going to use their own forum but it was denied - I imagine this will too ;)

But that's just what I hear...

Rumour my ass, you took what I told you in private and are blabbing it ::)

I never denied that we'd use our own forum, I simply said that we'd use a not widely known one that's faster than most. I publicly admitted that YaPP would be charge for after 0.6.2, and I meant it. It will not keep the name YaPP, due to reasons menchioned above.

irbrian, I'm no longer satisfied with YSE, which is no secret. However, it's not YaPP that's building the new forum, it's Chris and I that are, and has no direct relation to YaPP. The building of a forum has nothing to do with YaPP moving away from YSE to use this new one, it was built on the intention to be a message board and nothing more. I'm doing with it as I did with YSE, making it into a portal, seperate from the original message board software.

Well I would like to say that while I will be making XBB with Eric, I will not be making the portal for it, Eric will be doing that by himself.

And it doesn't really have nothing to do with money for me... that's just a bonus. 8)
I just like to program... and message boards have become my specialty. ;D
