Cool stuff

Along with other things, I did think of including traceroutes - to help find out why a user would be having a slow connection to the site - as a lot of users still use dialups - its nice to say 'yeah I see your problem, and the delay is caused by xISP - and they have a problem with a router @x ip address.

My only problem with this is that a lot of hosts do not allow you to tracert from a virtual machine - so forum hosts may have a problem getting it to work.

I will still package up my mod, and make it available - as it doesnt rely on a single company like nettools.com - it relys on the internet IP registrars themselves.

The mod is complete anyway - I just have to rebuild the package after I lost it during last nights hard drive cache.

I have the mod packaged up and ready - and have tested it on 1.5.3 - so it should work on 1.5.0 upwards.

At the moment I am having probs with my FTP server, so will try to upload it tomorrow.

Does the mod file now include the updated url for the IP scan thingy? The http://all-nettools.com/cgi-bin/sw.cgi?p=ip.ad.d.ress address?

I fancy using this as I can never tell who my users are if they don't log in...so this would be very helpful indeed.

This mod - detects which internet registrar the IP address belongs to. It then provides the contact details of the users ISP.

Are you talking about using it through the whose online mod? or do you allow guest posting?

I allow Guest postings and there have been a few 'guest' postings that I suspect are regular users who are hiding - I'm curious to find out if it is them...it's more for my own curiosity than anything else.

I've just installed this MOD - dead easy to do (although it wasn't searching for www.ripe.com (or something so I had to manually search)). Total install time < 1 minute.

Why did you have to do a manual search? it should of done it for you?

My file didn't have  "http://www.nic.com/cgi-bin/whois" set as the URL to connect to to check the IP...it was set to www.ripe.com or something.

Basically all I did was look for $ipInfo and found it.

Oh you mean board mod wasnt searching for..... ripe.com - no the mod was made for a default install

If you have made the changes in the first post - then you need to change the mod file

I hadn't made any changes to the install as far as I knew. It isn't a problem as there were only 5 files to eb updated or installed and each one only had 1 line needing tweaked.
