How does one upgrade 1.4.1 with the speed mod installed to 1.5.2?  Larry
just like i said above

it doesn't matter if u've installed the speed mod or not, since 1.5.x uses it anyway
you'll probably get some warning messages when converting the database, but u can ignore them

Hi again

I was the one who had database errors after loading the upgrade. In the end, I saved my database and re-installed from scratch. Either I made fewer dumb errors this time, or there are radical software improvements, because my board now flies!

However, I do have one query - once I am logged in, if I press the "home" icon, YaBB does not recognise that I am logged in, and says "Welcome, Guest" at the top, as it would if I were not yet logged in. If, however, I just straight to one of the boards, it sees my login status as it should - it's only when I click "home".

Anyone else notice this, or is my installation possessed?

Cheers

This is a caching problem on your end.  You may want to mess with your Temporary Internet Files settings.

Thanks - thought it could be likely that the error would lie with the inferior operating system :)

Good thing YaBB is running on something I can trust (like BSD).

Enkosi!

Okay, I'm at 1.5.1RC1, at least that's what my version check says.  I'm not sure if this is the final 1.5.1 or not.  What is the easiest way to get up to date?

Thanks.

Use the yabbse_1-5-1_update.zip and then yabbse_1-5-2_update.zip.

I see no instructions in the 1.5.1 update package, do I just replace the files for these updates, or do I need to also run the upgrade script?

Thanks.

Okay, sorry to be a pain...  I updated to 1.5.1 by uploading all the files and running upgrade, no problem.  For 1.5.2, I just upload the files, right?  There is no "upgrade" file in the package.

The instructions are in this 9 page thread somewhere?  I must have missed it.  It seems to be working fine now, I just wanted to make sure it was okay.

Thanks.

I may not be posting this in the right forum so feel free to move it if its worng....

I have just upgraded to 1.5.2 and all is workign good except for the fact that when people come to the site it displays Welcome guest even if they are cookied.

As soon as they click into one of the forums the welcome section shows their name and from then on in that session on the site they are logged in.

Anyone have any ideas what could be the cause of this?

Taildragger, yep - done.

Snowman30, either your boardurl is not set correctly, or your users are going to the wrong page.  You may wish to try my Global Cookies mod.  (I will probably take it out of beta soon.)

Ah just tried to apply the global cookies mod via the yabbpak but got the following error when applying it, even though testing it seemed ok:

Quote2: copy(Sources/Subs.php~) [function.copy]: failed to create stream: Permission denied
(/home/snowzone/public_html/forums/Sources/Packages.php ln 356)

ah found the problem...an old copy of subs.php~ was still in there
