posting message errors

Hi, we have getting complaints from users that whenever they post they get an error message telling them to go to http://cr.yp.to/docs/smtplf.html

the messages go through but the error message is displayed.

Sometimes sending instant messages also gives error messages. The  occurence of the error is quite random as it doesn't happen all the time. Can anyone help?

Looks like the mail program is causing that error. Guess it happens whenever email notification is tried to be sent.

Probably this site contains instructions how to fix the mailing problem.

1.5.3, then I reverted back to 1.5.2 but it's still the same.
