[beta 1.5.2 & 1.5.1] Integrated Shout Box Mod 1.0

Well I made this mod with my spare time, all it does is add an integrated shoutbox for your forum, that means your name on the shoutbox is reflected on your forum username, it's also locked which prohibits you to change/mimic other users.

Information:

This is a modification/hack for YaBBSE 1.5.1 that will add an additional shoutbox into your forums. The shoutbox will be integrated with the forum users, that means when a user post a message in the shoutbox, the names are locked as your forum name. However, if you are not logged/register your name will be shown as "Guest". The shoutbox itself is based on paBox (www.phparena.net).

Installation:

1. Copy shoutbox.gif to YaBBImages directory.
2. Copy the whole "thebox" directory to your forum directory. e.g (put in yabbse if your forum directory is yabbse)
3. Go to your browser and run the paBox installer. (http://yourdomain.com/yabbdirectory/thebox/installer.php)
4. Follow the readme included for paBox installation if needed.
5. Delete installer.php.
6. Configure your paBox Shoutbox if needed.
7. Apply the mod file using board mod.
8. Go see your board now!

NOTE: This is still beta, if you happen to find a bug, post it right away.

Hmm... something wrong?? I can really see the image very well... used the [ img ] tag and the url is workin fine... try now, i edited to make it direct links

It's kind of like a guestbook that sits on the bottom of your board. Pretty cool feature if you ask me.

Ok. I fixed all the problems I was having... Turns out that the error with the undefined function was a simple one... After reinstalling the mod and getting the same error, I did some searching to figure out what could be causing it... I noticed that thebox.php was including "../$sourcesdir/Load.php" and "../$sourcesdir/Subs.php", and figured the double quote meant that it was looking for a directory called $sourcesdir, so I changed that and it showed up. Then, I kept getting an error about my name being invalid, so I chmodded thebox.php to 777 and now it's working wonderfully!

Well, that error will occur if you didnt put the whole "thebox" directory to your yabbse forum directory, as the instructions say. Since it will run the following code.

../ means it goes up one directory, so if you put "thebox" dir on your yabbse forum, it will go to your yabbse forum and include the settings on settings.php in your yabbse dir. After that thebox.php should already know where $sourcedir is since it is presented on settings.php. Anyway its still in beta, I'll add some more features like administration, shoutbox location toggle, and some more features.. If you find another bug, post it here.

Btw, its $sourcedir not $sourcesdir and you said you were getting errors if you dont chmod thebox.php to 777 ? Hmm.. maybe a bug, I'll test it on a *NIX server because I am on a windows server.

Should be:

include_once("../Settings.php");
include_once("$sourcedir/Subs.php");
include_once("$sourcedir/Load.php");

Remember that $sourcedir is the ABSOLUTE path.  Even if you just have it as "Sources", most people have it set correctly.

Nope. Not at all. That's what that board's for. One thing to note - I have changed the settings a little from the default, so it won't look exactly like that. Sorry about that misunderstanding with the sourcedir thing... I always think it's sourcesdire and not sourcedir. The error with thebox.php was that it kept saying my name was invalid until I CHMODed it to 755. Great mod though. I'm gonna put it on my main board later (as if I didn't have enough mods on there already... )
