i'd appreciate if anyone can help me regarding this matter.  I've just downloaded 1.5.1 b45 and am doing a fresh install.  Everything seems to work fine until I get to 5 where it displays these error messages:

I've tried chmoding the Settings.php file to 666 but I still encounter the same error.  sorry if it's a bit long but I don't really know which line best explains the problem.  Anyway I'm pretty sure I have the settings correct because I've already tried installing 1.5.0 and it worked without a hitch.  I'm just thinking of starting off using a fresh install of 1.5.1 b45 because I read somewhere that 1.5.1 corrects some bugs and security issues of the previous versions.  I've tried reinstalling it over 10 times and I always delete the board directory and drop the database everytime but it still produces the same error.  I've also tried looking for a similar problem here.  Have I missed something?

Upload a new copy of Settings.php and try again.

If you used the normal (non safe mode) installer, delete the file and run the isntaller again from the beginning.

I tried your suggestion by deleting Settings.php (since I use the non-safe mode installer.  Safe mode is disabled in my mysql host) and going through the installation from the beginning but it still produces the same errors.  Additionally, step 3 produces error messages also but I think this is just because it couldn't create the same database twice.  If I delete the installation and the database, the error message in step 3 disappears.

Any other suggestions?

Make sure you uploaded the ya file properly.

Better yet, delete it all and instead use the safe mode installer.  The only difference is that the normal one can install to any dir - the safe mode only to the current dir.

I didn't get to try the safe mode install because I finally have it working!  :)  I tried installing 1.5.0 and upgrading to 1.5.1b45 and it seems to work ok now.  But when I do a detailed version check with the YabbSE site the latest version available was said to be 1.5.0.. is that a bug or something?

Anyway, thanks for the advice!
